I did my checks; no formal invitation was sent – Hon. Fokuo responds

Hon. Tweneboa Kodua Fokuo has clarified why the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was not officially represented at the recently held Economic Dialogue.

Speaking on The Big Issue with Selorm Adonoo on Channel One TV which was monitored by MyNewsGh, the MP stated, “I did my personal checks, and I did not come across any formal invitation sent to the party. People are saying the NPP was invited, but I have not seen any official letter.”

Despite this, some prominent figures affiliated with the party attended the event in their personal capacities.

“When asked about his impression of the dialogue, Hon. Fokuo remarked, “There was nothing really new.

It’s the same tone we’ve been hearing—complaints about debt, mismanagement, and lamentations about the past. But what Ghanaians need is a focus on the future and clear plans moving forward.”

The NPP MP also suggested that discussions should be balanced, considering not only Ghana’s debt but also the infrastructural projects and social interventions undertaken with those funds.

The National Economic Dialogue (NED) 2025 started at the Accra International Conference Centre on March 3, 2025, bringing together some of Ghana’s leading economic minds, policymakers, and industry leaders to deliberate on the country’s pressing economic challenges.

Spearheaded by President John Dramani Mahama, the two-day forum is being held under the theme, “Resetting Ghana: Building the Economy We Want Together.”

The event seeks to address key economic concerns, propose sustainable policy solutions, and chart a path toward long-term economic stability.
