Katharine McPhee and David Foster’s adorable son Rennie just turned four years old, and he just had the sweetest Power Rangers-themed birthday party. However, the lovebirds revealed that they almost did an entirely different theme, but decided it was too “scary.”
Any guesses?
Well, in a recent interview with People, they were stuck between the themes of Power Rangers and Darth Vader but opted out of one for a simple reason. Foster said, “Darth Vader might be a little scary for the 3 and 4-year-olds.”
But it all worked out for the best! “The Power Rangers came, and it was great,” he added. “And we had a little bouncy house and some Mexican food and churros, and everybody had a great time.”
We totally understand that! Maybe they can give Rennie a Darth Vader-themed birthday for his fifth birthday! But a Power Rangers-themed birthday? That’s seriously so cosmic, and we know fans are dying to see pics from the big day!

For those who don’t know, McPhee and Foster got engaged in 2018 after a year of dating. They married a year later, in June 2019, and less than two years later, in Feb 2021, they welcomed their son, Remi.
In a previous interview with E! News, McPhee opened up about her pregnancy and postpartum experience, admitting that she had a “love-hate relationship” with pregnancy and “struggled” with her body changing.
“What I didn’t expect was to have the baby and then be so at peace with my body,” she said. “I had this, wow, like this huge appreciation of what my body had just done and given me… I wish that I’d given myself a little bit more of that grace through the pregnancy.”
