The Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, has nominated three individuals to serve on Ghana’s General Legal Council.
In an official letter addressed to the Honourable Lady Chief Justice, Dr. Ayine detailed the nominations made in accordance with Section 1(2) of the Legal Profession Act, 1960, and Paragraph 2(1)(d) of the First Schedule of the Act.
“I write to nominate the following persons to the General Legal Council: Honourable Francis Xavier-Sosu, MP for Madina; Mrs. Clara Beeri Kasser-Tee, Lecturer at the University of Ghana School of Law; and Dr. Abdul-Bassit Aziz Bamba, Senior Lecturer, University of Ghana,” the letter stated.
Dr. Ayine further assured that the nomination had been duly communicated to the President. “His Excellency the President has been duly informed of the nomination of the three persons named above,” he wrote.
The nominations reflect a blend of legal expertise and parliamentary representation, with Xavier-Sosu being a renowned human rights lawyer and MP, Clara Beeri Kasser-Tee serving as a law lecturer, and Dr. Abdul-Bassit Aziz Bamba bringing his experience as a senior lecturer at the University of Ghana.
The Attorney-General concluded by expressing his highest consideration to the Chief Justice and copied the nominees in the correspondence.
