Ireland’s Grand Slam hopes come to crushing end as France run riot on Simon Easterby’s men in Six Nations clash

IRELAND’S dream of a second Grand Slam in three years came to a comprehensive end after France ran riot at the Aviva Stadium.

Simon Easterby’s men took an early second-half lead through a Dan Sheehan try after Louis Bielle-Biarrey had given the French a first-half lead.

However, Calvin Nash being sent to the sin bin initiated a rampant Les Bleus display as tries from Paul Boudehent, a second from Bielle-Biarrey, and Oscar Jégou put them in command.

Damien Penaud added a fifth after Sam Prendergast had a pass picked off.

Cian Healy touched down on his last home appearance for his country and Jack Conan added an injury time consolation.
