Shane Lowry’s wife jokes ‘glam team have arrived’ as daughters give him makeover before Arnold Palmer round

WENDY Lowry joked ‘the glam have arrived’ as Shane received/was forced into a makeover from their daughters.

The funniness of the whole scene was added by it unfolding in between rounds as he vies for top prize at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

The Offaly ace was laid out on a recliner chair as Iris and Ivy went to work on his complexion in addition to seemingly giving him a bit of a manicure.

His hands may be a little coarse from his first two rounds but Shane has been in superb form while going around the Bay Hill course.

A second round of 67 vaulted him to the top of the leaderboard in Florida.

As if being ‘treated’ to such an extent by his little girls wasn’t reason enough to be in extra chipper form, he was also boosted by the fact that going out in the final pairing will mean he has sufficient time to watch all of the Six Nations action from the Aviva Stadium.

The 37-year-old tweeted: “Late tee time Saturday means morning watching Ireland v France!”

He spoke for many an Irish person in sharing how he is shaping the free portion of his Saturday around tuning in to see the virtual tournament title-decider.

One person commented: “Strong incentive to have played well today!!”

Former RTE broadcaster-turned MEP Ciaran Mullolly added: “Has the makings of a great day.”

Lastly, a Corkonian tried to speak a few outcomes into existence.

They quipped: “Yourself to win the Arnold Palmer Invitational, Ireland to beat France and Cork to bate Clare, I’m not asking for too much!

“Best of luck over the weekend Shane. Keep doing what you’re doing, you’re playing great stuff.”

Lowry finished third on the course last year with Wyndham Clark and eventual winner Scottie Scheffler ahead of him.

American Clark is his closest challenger on the leaderboard, just two behind on six-under.

Lowry’s performance has been made all the more spectacular as he searches for a new driver.

The Clara native admitted to media on Thursday that something was off with his club at last week’s Cognizant Classic.

He then conceded that he didn’t even know what driver was in his bag after testing out at least 15 on the range.

Elsewhere, Max Kennedy made an impressive PGA Tour debut in Puerto Rico.

The Irishman is sitting in tied-10th after an opening round 67 at the rain-interrupted Puerto Rican Open at Grand Reserve CC.

The 23-year-old competes on the HotelPlanner Tour – formerly the Challenge Tour – which is Europe’s second-tier circuit.

He secured a place in the Puerto Rican Open by winning last year’s General Hackler Championship with the University of Louisville.

While the Arnold Palmer Invitational Signature tournament takes centre stage at Bay Hill, only seven of the world’s top 100 are in action at Grand Reserve.
