A stalwart of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, has called on the Ghanaian media, particularly personnel in the Ashanti Region, to stay united in the discharge of their duties.
Chairman Odeneho, who is affectionately referred to as COKA, made this appeal during the second edition of the Ashanti regional chapter of the Ghana Journalist Association’s (GJA) annual get-together and Thanksgiving event held at the Royal Longford Event Centre in Kumasi on Friday, March 7, 2025.
In his address to the gathering, he impressed on media actors and personnel to prioritize love, effective collaboration, and collective assistance over hostile competition and the haste to be recognized as the best journalist and media house.
“The task ahead of us as a country needs your firm output. Individual interests must take backstage.
“You must stay united in your work. Collaborate, trade ideas and recognize that it is unity that you can win.
“Do not let the haste to break news, to win awards as the most effective media house and others lead to the creation of hostility amongst you.
“See yourself as one. In so doing, no one can break your front. Do not let politicians sow seeds of discord amongst you. You are stronger in unity than apart.”
COKA shared at the event, which equally saw in attendance the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, Lawyer Justin Koduah, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene and the Ashanti Regional Commander of the Ghana Prisons Service, Deputy Director of Prison (DPP) James Mwinyelle ING.
