Although he is the son of two of the most commendable acting talents in Hollywood’s entertainment industry—the fan-beloved Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan—Jack Quaid still seems to be clawing his way to the top and gaining worldwide recognition by himself. This was especially evident from his performance as Hughie in The Boys, his breakthrough project.

But while his breakout in the industry, which came around seven years after his professional acting debut back in 2012, saw him gearing up against one of the worst villains of all time, i.e. Antony Starr’s diabolical Homelander, Quaid seems to have moved on from that. This is because, in a recent video, he met his toughest opponent yet—even tougher than Homelander.
Jack Quaid seems to have met a tougher opponent than Homelander
After his smash-hit success as the vigilante Hughie Campbell in The Boys, Jack Quaid is all set to star in his next big project, Novocaine. In the film, he plays a character named Nathan Caine, a person who cannot feel pain at all, and who, when the girl of his dreams gets kidnapped, turns this inability into an unexpected advantage to butt heads with a bunch of thugs to get her back.
To market the same, he, along with his co-star and onscreen love interest Amber Midthunder, appeared in a promotional video to perfectly emphasize his inability to feel pain. It was in this very clip that he met his toughest opponent yet, even more formidable than Antony Starr‘s diabolical Homelander from the superhero adult series: Kamarudeen “Kamaru” Usman.
A Nigerian-American professional mixed martial artist, Usman is a graduated folkstyle wrestler who formerly served as a freestyle wrestler and currently vies in the Middleweight division of the UFC, being a former Ultimate Fighting Championship Welterweight Champion. In the clip, he is seen holding Quaid in a chokehold while asking him to spill details about his film.

While that was that, the funny part came when Quaid realized he actually couldn’t deal with Usman himself and jokingly asked his co-star Midthunder, “You wanna tag in and maybe help me out here?” When the actress refused and told him, “No, you’re good. You got it!” Quaid had to say “Please” to emphasize that Usman was proving to be a tougher opponent than he thought.
This provoked an eye-roll from Midthunder, who was busy munching on popcorn while watching him struggle with Usman. But the next moment he knew, Midthunder was the one holding Dennis Quaid‘s son in a chokehold as he continued to share details about the film while Usman replaced her to enjoy the popcorn. And fans have been having differing opinions about it ever since.
Fans react to Kamaru Usman and Jack Quaid’s playful scuffle

Though Usman’s appearance was ostensibly just a cameo one to help in the promotion of Novocaine, it still seems to have ignited fan questions about whether he was actually going to return to the ring or not. On the other hand, his involvement in this promotional campaign seems to have piqued fans’ interest in the Jack Quaid-led action-thriller.
Thus said, taking to the comment section of the Instagram post by Usman holding the promotional video, here’s a sneak peek into their differing opinions on the matter:
