Gossip Girl star Blake Lively is one of the stars who has been the topic of discussion ever since she dropped the lawsuit against her co-star Justin Baldoni and his production company in December 2024. Of course, Baldoni, who not only co-starred opposite Lively but also served as the director of the movie It Ends With Us, was not going to sit back and accept the allegations. He has since then filed a lawsuit against the New York Times, Blake Lively, and her husband Ryan Reynolds.

The actress, who is going to be seen in the sequel of A Simple Favor along with Anna Kendrick, has the full support of her husband. They recently stepped out in the public eye to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Saturday Night Live. Baldoni and Lively’s trial will begin in May 2026, but ahead of that, fans couldn’t digest how Hugh Jackman went ahead and praised the actress by comparing her to the merits of Nicole Kidman and Elizabeth Taylor.
Hugh Jackman described Blake Lively-Ryan Reynolds as ‘megawatt stars’
In a cinematic editorial spread directed by Baz Luhrmann for a Hitchcock-inspired Vogue cover story, back in 2024, Blake Lively starred as The Cat, whereas Hugh Jackman appeared as L’Ombre. The actress at the time-shared that Luhrmann is one of her favorite directors, and when she got the opportunity to work with him, she hopped on it. She said,
My life has become more intimate. But when they said Baz would do it, I thought, ‘Okay, I’ve always wanted to work with Baz. Even if it’s just a week doing a photo shoot for Vogue, that’s still working with him. Seeing through his lens and how he tells stories.
The photoshoot also highlighted the friendship between Lively and Hugh Jackman, who happens to be a longtime friend of hers, and her husband, Ryan Reynolds.

The Wolverine actor shared with the publication when asked about their friendship that the celebrity couple are ‘megawatt stars.’. He added,
These are like old-school megawatt stars… and of course, I’ve spent many hours with them, like in pajamas just hanging out in their house with their nine hundred children and dogs. It is just as normal as it can be.
Further in the conversation, Jackman addressed the shyness Blake Lively mentioned, adding that she is indeed shy, and he believes it. Jackman added,
I’ve seen it before. Nicole Kidman and others have it. There’s a shyness, and it leads to this ability to morph and shape-shift. And she’s, as I said, walking around in pajamas, and then five minutes later—it’s Elizabeth Taylor! It’s miraculous.
Fans went back to the interview and are simply not impressed with the things Jackman had to say about Lively. A user shared video on her social media stated that the reason Reynolds and Lively believe that they are unstoppable is because their friends and co-actors say things like ‘megawatt stars’ about them.
Another user commented, ‘So nauseating.’ Fans online are majorly Team Baldoni and were not impressed with Jackman praising Blake. They shared they have liked Hugh Jackman till they read the article.

In speaking to Variety, Feig was asked if a line that reads, ‘Was she a glamorous PR executive? Or a cold-blooded killer?’, added to the story after the Lively-Baldoni controversy. He said they always had that line in their script. The filmmaker was asked if he was thinking about the third installment of the movie, to which he said,
It would be fun. We’re set up for one. There’s more fun stuff to be done with these characters.
Paul Feig also clarified that the sequel was always going to stream on a digital platform, adding that he’d also go to the Miami Film Festival for the premiere of the movie. The filmmaker is adamant about using word-of-mouth as a strategy to gain publicity for the movie but noted that he is assured that people are going to enjoy watching it at home.
As expected, Lively walked the red carpet for Another Simple Favor but skipped the interviews with the press members who spoke to Anna Kendrick and Paul Feig. The filmmaker shared on the red carpet that Lively and Kendrick are just two of the smartest actors he has ever worked with.
