‘The Way Home’ Season 4 Is Confirmed — Here’s What We Know About a Release Date, Plot & More

With The Way Home season 4 has officially been confirmed and we have all the details on when we can expect it to release and what it might be about.

After, the finale episode for season 3 of the hit Hallmark show on Friday, March 7, fans will no doubt be itching for more. Del (Andie MacDowell), Kat (Chyler Leigh), Alice (Sadie Laflamme-Snow), and Elliot (Evan Williams), have opened up a lot of mysteries, both in the present and the past. So, we’re all desperate to know details about season 4.

When Is The Way Home Season 4 Releasing?

We don’t have an official release date for The Way Home season 4 but if it’s anything like the seasons so far, we can expect to see it back on our screens in January 2026. All previous seasons of the show have aired between January and March.

The Way Home season 4 was confirmed on March 6 via an Instagram post. Leigh and MacDowell announced the news. “Will there be a season 4 of The Way Home?” Leigh asks. “And the answer is… yes!” MacDowell continues.

“And we could not be more excited to bring you more romance, family drama, mystery, and of course, time travel,” MacDowell continues. “See you all in 2026.”

In the comments, Williams celebrated with fans. “Couldn’t be more thrilled with this news,” he wrote. “So much love to the entire team that brings this show to life 🥰🏡🥰.”

The Way Home Cast & Creators Have Teased That There’s More To Come

While Chyler Leigh and Sadie Laflamme-Snow didn’t talk about a renewal in their SheKnows cover story last month, they did tease an explosive season finale for season 3.

“We were a blubbering mess,” Laflamme-Snow said of her initial reaction to reading the finale’s script. “Everyone was at the table throwing Kleenex boxes at me and I was inconsolable.”

For Leigh, however, her reaction was a bit more tamed — partly because she didn’t fully understand what happened. “It makes so much more sense after I had Evan Williams explain it to me,” she said of her onscreen love interest. “I’m telling you, if you’ve ever been affected by an episode up until now, you have not like you will be.”

Additionally, while showrunners Alexandra Clarke and Heather Conkie avoided renewal talk in a February 28 interview with TVLine, they did say the show’s story is not over.

“It’s a weird situation we’re in this year versus any other season, where the audience knows more than our characters do… There’s still more story to be told and still more answers to be given,” Clarke told the outlet.

As for the finale, Conkie said it’ll surely live up to the hype. “[The finale] is probably one of the most emotional [episodes] in the entire history of the show,” she told the outlet. “We’re very proud of it… We can honestly say it answers a lot of questions.”

How Are The Way Home Season 3 Ratings?

According to Collider, while The Way Home continues to have a dedicated fan base, viewership of the third season has been the lowest compared to other seasons, and it has been declining since episode 1.

Per the outlet, 860,000 viewers tuned in to watch the season 3 premiere. By episode 7, viewership had dropped by over a quarter to 610,000. As a point of comparison, the season 2 finale viewership surpassed a million viewers at 1.74 million.

Did Fans Think The Way Home Would Be Renewed?

Ahead of the renewal news, fans were eagle-eyed watching the episode 10 preview. In the video, the narrator says, “All your questions will be answered.”

On Reddit, some fans are speculating that the language is hinting at the end of the series. “Sad to say I’m pretty sure this is it 😭,” wrote one user. “I’ve started panicking about this but I’m trying to calm back down,” wrote another. “I just can’t imagine it. But I’m worried about it all of a sudden.”

Luckily, not all fans agreed with the theory. “I mean, that’s very common phrasing when it comes to teasing a season finale,” wrote one fan. “They want to draw viewers in, so they say something enticing to make sure people watch. I really don’t think that specific phrase is an indication of anything other than the finale next week.”

Fans of the show were so scared of a cancellation that they started a petition too. On Change.Org, over 7,000 fans pleaded for a season 4.

“According to Nielsen ratings, The Way Home has consistently delivered strong viewership since its inception, which only illustrates its potential for success and cultural impact,” the petition description says. “By renewing The Way Home for season 4, Hallmark would not only be satisfying its loyal fan base, but also perpetuating quality TV. Let’s show Hallmark Channel the fervent support for this show.”

What Else Did the Finale Teaser Have?

Sure, the finale teaser included the ambiguous messaging, but it included so much more.

In one short snippet, Jacob (Spencer MacPherson) is seen confronting Casey (Vaughan Murrae). “Who are you?” he asks.

In another moment, Andie MacDowell’s Del makes an intriguing request to Kat (Chyler Leigh) and Alice (Sadie Laflamme-Snow). “Take me to see him,” she says. Knowing how conflicted Del has been about Colton’s (Jefferson Brown) experience with time travel, we’re guessing that “him” is indeed her late husband.

Now we can tune in to the season 3 finale knowing that there’s plenty still to come. The Landry adventures are far from over!
