It’s time to celebrate as Kyle Crane is back. Back at The Game Awards 2024, we got a fresh new look at Dying Light: The Beast. It’s a spinoff that brings back Kyle Crane and the city of Castor Woods. We’re bound to see tons of zombie action soon.

So far, from everything we’ve seen, it’s quite clear that Dying Light: The Beast is taking a brand-new approach to development. It’s something fresh we’ve never seen before. The development team has come up with a unique villain for the same that takes root in a franchise that even rejected Henry Cavill!
The franchise which abandoned Henry Cavill inspired Dying Light: The Beast

While chatting with GamerRant, Dying Light’s franchise director, Tymon Smektala, talked about the upcoming entry. He explained various development decisions and how developer Techland managed to freshen up the gameplay with a new setting.
Smektala also chatted about the Dying Light: The Beast‘s antagonist, The Baron. When asked what was the inspiration behind this menace, Baron stated that it was hard to pinpoint anything. The studio was inspired by classic villains from all across the board, but it was the Bond villains who gave the main direction.
We were looking at the James Bond movie series. Usually, they have a central antagonist who is just as important as 007 himself, so we got inspired by that. We tried to create the same vibe of someone who’s definitely bad, definitely a negative character
According to Smektala, in Bond films, villains are as crucial as 007 himself to the plot. Often, they have a commanding personality, unique motives, and a presence that horrifies audiences. Techland wanted to replicate the same and designed The Baron in a way that shows he is evil and a hurdle.
It’s pretty shocking that Bond villains inspired Smektala and his team while working on Dying Light: The Beast. After all, it’s the same franchise that even Henry Cavill couldn’t work with. That’s right, Cavill himself auditioned for the role of 007 in Casino Royale. However, as reported by Express UK, director Martin Campbell had to drop him because he was too young.
When is Dying Light: The Beast coming out?

Considering the fact that Dying Light: The Beast is looking to elevate the franchise‘s formula and even feature Bond-inspired villains, gamers are hyped to get their hands on the title. However, the real question is, when is it hitting the shelves?
Back at The Game Awards 2024, Techland presented a brand-new trailer for Dying Light: The Beast and confirmed that the game’s release window is set for Summer 2025. There’s no particular date as of now, but we’re likely to hear about that topic soon as we approach the release window.
If you’re someone who’s still on last-generation consoles, you’re in luck. Not only will Dying Light: The Beast be released on PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC, but it’s going to have a day-one launch on PS4 and Xbox One as well. Even Dying Light 2 dropped on two console generations at the same time.
