Liev Schreiber once again brought a special plus one to his latest red carpet appearance. The Ray Donovan star had his son Sasha by his side, and the two looked as dashing as ever, even though Sasha was rocking an entirely new look.
Whenever we see the 17-year-old on a red carpet with Schreiber or his mom (Schreiber’s ex) Naomi Watts, he is all buttoned up and dapper in a sleek suit or all-black. His red carpet fashion is chic yet predictable. But last night, for the New York premiere of Cirque Du Soleil’s Luzia, the teen looked rugged and laid back in cargo pants and a Carhartt jacket layered over what looked like a brown suede jacket. Meanwhile, his dad opted for an all-black ensemble.
Ahead of the show, Schreiber told People it felt “strange” walking this red carpet with his eldest.
“I felt a little self-conscious walking into the circus with him because, like, it’s the kind of thing you do with your [young] kid,” he admitted. And that’s fair enough. It probably would have felt just as “strange” going with his 16-year-old daughter Kai — who he also shares with his ex. And his 1-year-old daughter Hazel — who he shares with wife Taylor Neisen — is probably too young to enjoy it.
“[Sasha] doesn’t feel like my kid anymore,” the X-Men star continued. “He feels like a man now, so, it’s a whole different thing for us.”
Last month, Sasha walked the red carpet at the Critics Choice Awards, and he made it a point to pose with both his parents and his stepmom. The teen wore a classic black suit and black tie, coordinating with the three adults who also wore black.
It was a big night for the co-parents. Watts was nominated for her lead role in FEUD: Capote vs. The Swans, and Schreiber won for his supporting role in The Perfect Couple. And so it was unsurprising (and oh-so-sweet) to see Sasha there supporting them both.
During his acceptance speech, Schreiber thanked his family.
“Thank you to my beautiful wife, Taylor, and my son, Sasha, for convincing me to come,” he joked. “I told them that there’s no way on God’s Earth in that company that I would win this award.”
Well, not only did he win, but he did so with his firstborn by his side.
