CM Punk’s rise as a main event WWE superstar has been nothing short of remarkable. After spending the first six years in WWE, one night changed his entire life. Punk dropped a verbal tirade on the entire establishment which infamously came to be known as ‘The Pipebomb.’
That night in the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas marked the ascension of CM Punk to the top of the heap. In doing so, he became the WWE Champion by defeating Alberto Del Rio at the 2011 Survivor Series event, which marked the start of his impressive 434-day reign.

However, the man who would ultimately come around to end Punk’s historic title reign was The Rock. But despite that, The Best in the World did not back down from one of the greatest WWE superstars of all time. He went head-on with The Rock on the mic, burying him with a highly iconic promo during their feud in 2013 and then again in 2025.
CM Punk’s line in his promo leading up to the 2013 WWE Royal Rumble became iconic

In 2012, CM Punk was the reigning WWE champion. On the 1000th episode of Monday Night RAW, which had a remarkable debut show on Netflix featuring multiple stars and celebrities in 2025, The Rock returned after a long hiatus. On that night, The Great One announced that he would challenge for the WWE Championship at the 2013 Royal Rumble.
By the time the road to the Royal Rumble 2013 began, CM Punk had turned heel, and The Rock came back to begin his feud with him as a babyface. The Final Boss was going up against one of the most dangerous men in WWE at the time, who was amidst his record-setting reign as champion.
Three weeks before their match at the Royal Rumble, The Rock and CM Punk met in the ring for a face-to-face confrontation. Punk did not back down from The Rock’s worldwide fame and ability to hold people in the palm of his hands.
He warned him that he was the best thing in WWE at the time, and it would not be an easy task to defeat him. Punk ended his promo by going straight in the face and uttering an iconic line, which is memorable to this date.
Your arms are just too short to box with God.

This became one of the most iconic promos of CM Punk’s WWE career. Despite losing the WWE title to The Rock at the Rumble event, Punk clearly owned him and displayed his excellence as a monster heel heading into the match.
CM Punk destroyed The Rock with another iconic promo in 2025

The Rock once again found himself in the crosshairs of CM Punk’s verbal tirade. This came after he corrupted John Cena to turn heel at the 2025 WWE Elimination Chamber PLE. Punk once again saw it as a roadblock in his WrestleMania main event dreams.
The Second City Saint destroyed The Final Boss, calling him “bald fraud,” who only liked to misuse his power as the TKO Board member to do what is best for him. Punk even took shots at The Rock’s new accomplice , John Cena and vowed to settle business with them on the road to WrestleMania 41.
In our opinion, CM Punk’s 2013 promo was better than his recent verbal tirade on RAW. Punk was one of the biggest heels and top attractions at the time. While many crumbled on the mic in front of The Rock, Punk showed much confidence and emotion in front of one of the best talkers.
CM Punk having the ability to absolutely COOK The Rock and John Cena in one promo proves just how godly Punk is with a microphone in his hand.

Moreover, the 2013 promo was a face-to-face confrontation where Punk buried The Rock rather than just taking shots in the 2025 promo when he was not there. Lastly, the line delivered added much iconic value to the promo, and it suited well for their storyline-driven feud, which became one of the biggest at the time and main event match that happened.
