Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has arrived at the Jubilee House to participate in Ghana’s 68th Independence Day celebration.
The Vice President’s arrival adds to the significance of the national commemoration, which honours the country’s liberation from British colonial rule on March 6, 1957.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang, Ghana’s first female Vice President, joins President John Dramani Mahama and other dignitaries, including former presidents, traditional rulers, and members of the diplomatic corps, for the modest celebration at the seat of government.
The 2025 Independence Day anniversary is being observed with a scaled-down ceremony, as the government announced earlier, in a bid to cut costs.
Despite the low-key approach, the occasion remains a moment to reflect on Ghana’s journey, the contributions of its leaders, and the collective efforts towards national progress.
