The world of professional wrestling has seen some of the greatest in-ring showdowns take place in years. The matches have become more iconic, with big names and rivals driven by captivating storylines. Out of the many matches that have taken place, two superstars involved in iconic WWE matches are Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and The Undertaker.
The Rock and The Undertaker have been part of many prolific matches in their respective WWE careers. Moreover, some of their iconic bouts have taken place on The Grandest Stage of Them All, WrestleMania, against marquee names of the business.

The Undertaker has been considered one of the most accomplished in-performers in WrestleMania history, while The Rock has also been a part of many top matches at The Show of Shows over the years. So it is an interesting debate in regards to which individual had a better WrestleMania main event in WWE history.
The Rock & The Undertaker compete for the Greatest WrestleMania main event.

The careers of both The Rock and The Undertaker have been defined by one of the most important factors in WWE: iconic rivals. For The Final Boss, one of his biggest rivals was the poster boy of the Attitude Era, Stone Cold Steve Austin. For The Phenom, it was another top in-ring performer, Shawn Michaels, who, after spending years with him, has identified the modern-day version of The Heartbreak Kid.
In a list rolled out on Screenrant.com, the outlet ranked 15 Best WrestleMania main events of all time. In that, the match between the two faces of the Attitude Era, The Rock vs Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania 17, which was their second encounter at the event, was given #1 rank above the historic showdown between The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 26.
The Rock and Steve Austin are two of the biggest names who defined the Attitude Era. At WrestleMania 17, the duo was in their prime and delivered one of the greatest in-ring showdowns of all time. Moreover, the ending also became memorable when Austin sided with his other iconic rival, Vince McMahon, and used his help to defeat The Rock to win the WWE title.

Despite the magnitude of that in-ring showdown, in our opinion, the main event between The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels was a better WrestleMania match. It was the second match in their feud after WrestleMania 25 which itself was a top showdown in WWE history. The storyline driving the match was also captivating.
Shawn Michaels was trying to find his path to a rematch with The Undertaker. In his last desperate attempt, he agreed to put his career on the line for the match. Moreover, at that time, The Undertaker’s WrestleMania undefeated Streak was a focal point in wrestling.

The high stakes of ‘Career vs Streak’, two prolific performers and legends colliding, an exceptional display of in-ring action and the dramatic ending which saw Shawn Michaels losing the match and retiring as an in-ring competitor makes it a better WrestleMania main event than Austin vs Rock.
The Undertaker & The Rock came face to face in 2024

The Rock and The Undertaker have wrestled each other during their time as full-time performers. The duo did not come together on WWE television for many years. However, all that changed in the main event of WrestleMania 40.
The Final Boss came to help his cousin, Roman Reigns, during his match against Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE title. After The Rock disposed off Reigns’ foes like John Cena and Seth Rollins, The Undertaker appeared in the ring out of nowhere and delivered a thunderous chokeslam to him to help Cody Rhodes.
While The Undertaker is enjoying retirement at the moment and making non-wrestling appearances outside, The Rock came back to WWE weeks ago to once again become a part of the road to WrestleMania 41 this year.
