Harvey Weinstein and his ex-wife Georgina Chapman experienced a lot of turmoil during their marriage.
Weinstein and Chapman met at a party in 2004 and began dating on and off initially. Ultimately, the pair tied the knot in 2007 and went on to welcome daughter India in 2010 followed by son Dashiell in 2013.
In October 2017, things took a turn for the duo when the New York Times published a expose claiming that Weinstein had a history of sexual harassment going back decades.
“I came of age in the 60’s and 70’s, when all the rules about behavior and workplaces were different. That was the culture then,” Weinstein said in a statement in response to the allegations. “I have since learned it’s not an excuse, in the office — or out of it. To anyone. I realized some time ago that I needed to be a better person and my interactions with the people I work with have changed. I appreciate the way I’ve behaved with colleagues in the past has caused a lot of pain, and I sincerely apologize for it. Though I’m trying to do better, I know I have a long way to go. That is my commitment.”
One week after the article was published, Chapman announced she was filing for divorce from Weinstein.
“My heart breaks for all the women who have suffered tremendous pain because of these unforgivable actions,” Chapman said in a statement to People at the time. “I have chosen to leave my husband. Caring for my young children is my first priority and I ask the media for privacy at this time.”
After their split, Chapman moved on with Adrien Brody in 2019. Weinstein was found guilty of rape and sentenced to 23 years in prison in 2020. His sentencing was overturned in April 2024 by the New York State Court of Appeals, stating that the original trial judge had prejudiced Weinstein with improper ruling. Weinstein’s new trial is set to start on Tuesday, April 15.
