‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Could Easily Break a Frustrating Trend of Modern TV Shows With Its Season 2

It’s nearly time for the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen to return to our screens with the impending premiere of Daredevil: Born Again. The series is a revival of the original series starring Charlie Cox in the titular role that was produced for Netflix and canceled after three seasons. However, the new series aims to continue expanding Matt Murdock’s story with a second season.

According to reports, a second season is ahead of schedule, as the new series was initially announced to have a larger episode count. However, the plans seemingly changed after it underwent a creative overhaul. As a result, a second installment is steaming ahead at full speed. With the right momentum behind it, the series could break one frustrating trend of model television, and here is how.

Daredevil: Born Again season 2 has already started production

Daredevil: Born Again is set to premiere this month, with the revival series bringing back Charlie Cox as the Man Without Fear. The series was originally announced in 2022 with an eighteen-episode order for its first season. However, the series underwent a creative overhaul mid-production, resulting in a nine-episode first installment.

In 2024, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirmed that a second installment was in development (via Deadline). The second installment started production in February 2025, with showrunner Dario Scardapane returning to oversee the new episodes directed by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead.

Filming on the second installment is expected to conclude by July 2025 (via MeltDownPress). Most of the main cast members, including Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, Deborah Ann Woll, and Michael Gandolfini, were confirmed to be returning for the sophomore outing. As a result, production is now in full swing, and the series is likely to return with new episodes as early as 2026.

Daredevil: Born Again‘s quick turnaround time could break a frustrating TV trend

Given that the second installment started production before Daredevil: Born Again‘s official premiere, it is safe to say that Marvel has the utmost confidence in the final product. As a result, production on Season 2 was likely fast-tracked.

The turnaround time for the show’s return is in direct contrast to a frustrating and disturbing trend that has become prevalent in modern television. Since the later seasons of Game of Thrones and the rise of streaming shows like Stranger Things, the turnaround time on new episodes has drastically increased.

For instance, the latter series has taken a three-year gap to return for its fourth and upcoming fifth installment. A cable show like Euphoria took roughly three years to return with its sophomore outing, and the wait for the third installment could be even longer. As a result, Daredevil: Born Again’s quick turnaround is a welcome change of pace, as fans likely won’t have to wait long for new episodes.

Daredevil: Born Again premieres with its first two episodes on March 4, 2025, on Disney+.
