Lucky for us, the actors are rather active on their respective social media platforms. Whether it’s Taz Skylar’s kickboxing or Iñaki Godoy’s hilarious “interviews” with his fellow cast members, fans feel incredibly connected to them.

However, on 28 February 2025, Emily Rudd announced on her Instagram that she had lost her father to pancreatic cancer this month. She shares a childhood photo of him playing with her as a memorial post. She also linked a Spotify playlist of her dad’s favorite music in her story.

According to Emily Rudd, her father was only recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and so, their time with him was short. He passed away earlier this February.

However, he faced his diagnosis like a champion, as he did most things. He also passed away listening to Tom Sawyer by Rush and surrounded by his family. Rudd chooses to celebrate his memory with music and joy.

The actress linked a Spotify playlist of her father’s favorite music in her Instagram bio and her story for everyone to listen to. It’s titled, “papa rudd’s big playlist.”

Rudd’s post announcing his passing showed how close they had been since her childhood. In the photograph, he was holding her upside down while she was smiling widely. Her father was always an optimistic person, and that trait shows in Emily Rudd.

The actress has always been the most extroverted and friendly person on set. She’s the first of the co-stars to greet a new Season 2 cast member, and often comments on their posts.

Eiichiro Oda has done a phenomenal job picking his cast members. The biggest proof of this is Emily Rudd’s casting as Nami. The actress has done a phenomenal job of portraying Netflix’s version. Her enthusiasm is infectious and she always makes the entire cast feel very welcome, too.

Kindness is a prominent trait that Nami has in One Piece, and Rudd is the face of it. Her efforts to donate and help during the California wildfires were commendable. She is the perfect Nami in many ways, and we can’t wait to see her continue her work during One Piece’s Season 2.
