The anonymous winner struck gold on Irish Pot Luck, a popular online slot, with a tiny bet that led to a life-changing payout.
The eye-watering prize was part of a progressive jackpot that had been growing for over a year on DraftKings Casino.
Starting at £793,000 ($1million) in February 2024, the jackpot soared to record-breaking levels before finally paying out earlier this week.
There was no cap available for the jackpot, so it could have potentially kept growing and growing until someone won.

How was the jackpot so large?
DraftKings call it their “Single Level Progressive Jackpot,” and participation is optional.
It’s essentially a system that allows players to opt in for an additional wager across multiple online games, and a portion of every bet contributes to a growing prize pool.
If the jackpot is not won, then the amount continues to grow.
PlayMichigan report that the jackpot grew by around £12 ($15) every single minute – or £17,000 ($21,000) each day!
The payout beat the previous record of $6.45 million, which was won in August 2024 in New Jersey.
