The format of the show sees three pairs of contestants going head-to-head in the quick-paced general knowledge quiz.
The players are faced with two possible answers meaning there is a 50/50 outcome as to the right answer each time.
But the pressure is always on, with contestants only ever one answer away from either banking the cash or losing the lot.
The teams will then be eliminated one-by-one until only one pair remains to take on The Final Run which allows them the chance to walk away with all the money they’ve accumulated.
Filming for the brand new series will take place this March in Glasgow with episodes expected to air later this year.
Speaking about returning to the fun new quiz format, Jason said: “I’m delighted to be back on BBC One with a second series of The Answer Run.
“As predicted, it’s become an addictive TV quiz show that the whole family can get involved in, shouting at the telly.
“I can’t wait for the new series to air later this year with you lot sat watching at home thinking you could do better.
“And if that is the case, why not apply to take part in this series – filming starts in March – the contestants really are the stars of the show!”
Applications for contestants for the programme are open now will all hopefuls encouraged to apply at this link.
Pete Ogden, the Creative Director for the show, said: “We’re incredibly proud of the first series so it’s great news that its returning to screens for a second time.
“Jason is the perfect host for The Answer Run and we can’t wait for audiences to watch and play along again when it airs this year.”
