It’s been a whole seven years since Téa Leoni hit the red carpet with her daughter, West Duchovny, but SXSW 2025 broke the streak. The duo showed up for the premiere of Death of a Unicorn, the much-anticipated horror comedy starring Jenna Ortega and Paul Rudd. Leoni has a supporting role in the film, and West showed up to support her mom for the special occasion.
For the red carpet, West brought a cool, understated polish in a black mock turtleneck tank and tailored navy trousers. Téa, on the other hand, leaned into her trademark effortless cool. Decked out in a cream button-up with an artsy blue handprint print, she pulled off the perfect mix of playful yet relaxed. Bonus points for leaving just one button fastened in the middle, channeling low-maintenance chic a la Annie Hall. And the two looked pretty cute together as they hugged and laughed for the cameras.

For those new to the Duchovny-Leoni saga, the pair married in 1997, separated briefly in 2008, reconciled, then ultimately divorced in 2014. They’ve since maintained a co-parenting relationship focused on their kids.
Though their family red carpet appearances are rare (the last big one being the 2018 UNICEF Snowflake Ball), the connection between West and her parents couldn’t be more obvious. West has openly shared how, after ditching her pre-med plans to chase acting, her mom and dad didn’t hesitate to cheer her on once the initial “shock” wore off.
Now 25, she’s proving that talent might just be in her DNA (or at least adds some intrigue to conversations about famous family names and nepo babies). With roles in Saint X and Netflix’s Painkiller — plus a nostalgic cameo on her dad’s The X Files in 2018 — West is steadily making her mark in Hollywood, all while keeping her parents as her biggest fans.

“I’ve never felt this way about anything,” she shared with WWD back in August 2023, recalling that both Leoni and Duchovny were “shocked” but quickly rallied around her. “Now I’ll call [mom] if I need advice. They’re super supportive.”
David Duchovny has also gushed about West and her brother Kyd, 22. He gushed to People in 2024, “I felt unconditionally loved by my children, and I love them unconditionally.” With parents like these cheering her on, it’s no wonder West is thriving. And if this joint appearance tells us anything, it’s that family moments like these deserve a little more airtime. Fingers crossed we see more of this duo lighting up the red carpet soon.
