Sosu assures Attorney General of resetting the General Legal Council

Member of Parliament for Madina in the Greater Accra Region, Francis Xavier Sosu has assured the President and the Attorney General of his commitment to see a reset of legal education and practice in Ghana.

“I am grateful to the President John Dramani Mahama and the AG and humbly accept this normination and promise to work with other Council members and relevant stakeholders to achieve the reset agenda of the President,” he said in a post shared via social media.

He emphasized the need for the reforms for the General Legal Council, which was set up in 1960 by the Legal Profession Act and indicated that he will work together with stakeholders to reset the system.

“Set up in 1960 by The Legal Profession Act, 1960 (Act 32), the GLC needs serious progressive reforms.”

I wish to thank the Learned Attorney General of the Republic of Ghana 🇬🇭 Hon. Dr. Dominic Ayine for Nominating me to the General Legal Council.

The General Legal Council, which regulates the legal profession in Ghana by overseeing legal education and professional practice of the law, plays a key role in effective and quality justice delivery.

Set up in 1960 by The Legal Profession Act, 1960 (Act 32), the GLC needs serious progressive reforms.

I am grateful to the President John Dramani Mahama and the AG and humbly accept this normination and promise to work with other Council members and relevant stakeholders to achieve the reset agenda of the President.

Let’s work together to reform and reset legal education and practice in Ghana to guarantee justice for all and injustice to none.
