Taylor Sheridan’s ability to craft impossible storylines from thin air is what made his career as a scriptwriter so successful among fans and critics alike. The originality that he brings to shows like Yellowstone and his attention to detail in period television, especially 1883 and 1923, has elevated Sheridan to the top as a Hollywood creative.

Despite the overwhelming responsibility of carrying multiple shows simultaneously on Paramount+, the Texan actor-turned-filmmaker has yet to disappoint his audience. However, as the Yellowstone universe expands, one storyline could prove why he deserves the honor of being named one of the greatest storytellers on television in the first place.
1923 Season 2 could be hiding a major link to 1883

The Yellowstone universe often gets a bit too convoluted for Taylor Sheridan‘s own good. As millions of eyes remain pinned on the show’s spin-offs, charting the lives of the Dutton and Rainwater ancestors, Sheridan keeps weaving interesting tales about the crisscrossing lives of people from a bygone era.
The shifting socio-economic and class status in each consecutive series makes the shows all the more interesting, as a clear distinction can be seen between the events and the people in 1923 from those in 1883. But as 1923 forges ahead into Season 2, fans are starting to notice details that can finally merge the two worlds into one with a reunion between an 1883 and a 1923 character.
If such a crossover truly does come true, the TV episode could break records at Paramount+ and once again remind the critics and naysayers why Taylor Sheridan truly is a genius with a story.
Fans discover a clever detail in 1923 Season 2

When 1883 ended with Elsa Dutton’s death, Paramount commissioned numerous spin-offs and sequels to continue the story, although none of them came to fruition. Taylor Sheridan himself claimed that 1883 was supposed to remain a limited series as he wanted to create a “ten-hour movie that ended.”
However, with one tiny detail in 1923, fans may finally be getting the much-anticipated continuity arc that the Yellowstone universe deserves.
As one may recall, the story of the Comanche tribesman and Elsa Dutton’s second husband, Sam (played by Martin Sensmeier), was left somewhat vague at the end of 1883. Meanwhile, in 1923 Season 1, Elsa’s younger brother, Spencer Dutton, who was born after her death, is shown to carry her knife around – the same knife that Sam had given Elsa in 1883 – establishing an already heavy emotional link between the three characters.
Now, one fan on Reddit has discovered that a sudden gathering of characters at the same place in 1923 Season 2 could be hinting at a reunion between Spencer Dutton and Sam – who could evidently still be alive, though aged:
If Spencer Dutton and Sam do meet in 1923 Season 2, the fans may yet lose their collective minds over the connection and the emotional implications of the meeting. The storyline would not only bridge the gap between the Yellowstone prequels but also resolve the ending to 1883, bring closure to Sam’s story, and give Spencer a more meaningful connection to his past.
1923 Season 2 is currently airing on Paramount+ with new episodes coming out every Sunday.
