Hilaria Baldwin is getting real about husband Alec Baldwin’s obsessive compulsive disorder diagnosis.
In Us Weekly’s exclusive sneak peek of the Sunday, March 9, episode of The Baldwins, Alec, 66, briefly addresses his mental health condition.
“My OCD, it is what it is in my life,” he shared. “It’s part of my upbringing.”
From Hilaria’s perspective, however, part of Alec’s struggle is his overall outlook on everyday things.

“Can I tell you something? You would be a lot happier without it,” she says. “I say it to you sometimes. ‘You know what? If you left those dishes.’ Because you know what? It also was before the kids. … When I entered your house and I saw the things stacked just so and things had to be and how you chip things and do things.”
Alec and Hilaria have seven kids together: Carmen Gabriela, 11, Rafael Thomas, 9, Leonardo Ángel Charles, 8, Romeo Alejandro David, 6, Eduardo “Edu” Pao Lucas, María Lucía Victoria, 4, and Ilaria Catalina Irena, 2. Alec also shares daughter Ireland Baldwin, 29, with his ex Kim Basinger.
While Alec assured his wife that “this is my illness,” Hilaria, 41, explained that “you don’t have to make it bad like that.”
“Somebody said this to me,” she recalls in the clip. “‘Am I supporting the OCD or am I supporting Alec?’ I think about that with myself too. Who am I working with? And so I want to always support you, which is why I call you out on when you give a bulls— excuse like you just did.”

Alec first shared his diagnosis publicly during a June 2021 episode of his “What’s One More” podcast. While the 30 Rock alum spent a few years learning about OCD in private, he decided to share his story with Howie Mandel — who also shares the diagnosis.
“OCD is something I personally struggle with,” Alec shared at the time. “I’m grateful to Howie for opening up at a time when few people were talking about this publicly, and there was even more of a stigma about OCD and mental health than there is today. It’s through empathy, understanding and being kinder to one another, that we can finally remove the stigma and change the narrative.”
After the podcast episode aired, Hilaria expressed how grateful she was that her husband shared his story publicly.
“I’m proud of you, Alec, for having the bravery to do the same with your struggles with OCD,” she wrote via Instagram at the time. “Your gift of sharing touches many and saves lives.”

According to the Mayo Clinic, OCD features a pattern of unwanted thoughts and fears known as obsessions. These obsessions can lead to repetitive behaviors or compulsions.
If obsessions and compulsions affect one’s quality of life, health professionals advise people to see a doctor.
The Baldwins airs on TLC Sundays at 10 p.m. ET.
