State institutions were bastardized under the NPP – Edem Agbana

Ketu North MP Edem Agbana has praised President John Dramani Mahama for not only presenting the true state of the economy but also outlining bold plans to address the country’s challenges.

Speaking in Parliament, Agbana criticized the opposition for failing to acknowledge the policy measures Mahama proposed.

“President Mahama did not only give us the picture of the economy that he inherited, but he was also generous to the good people of Ghana by giving us a comprehensive plan for addressing the challenges as he met them,” he stated.

He particularly emphasized Mahama’s plan to improve governance, stating that under the previous administration, state institutions were undermined by partisanship.

“For the last eight years under the NPP government, we saw the bastardization of state institutions. Even independent state institutions were compromised with partisanship. Even the Judiciary lost public confidence, with seven out of ten Ghanaians expressing doubt in its credibility,” he said.

Agbana also highlighted Mahama’s flagship “1 Million Coders” initiative, which aims to train and equip young people with digital skills to combat unemployment.

“With the digital economy, 1 million coders recruited and trained by President Mahama will help solve the problem of unemployment and expand the economy,” he explained.

He further noted that Mahama’s leadership would focus on prudent resource management, avoiding wasteful expenditures like the controversial National Cathedral project.

“We will not see a government that will spend billions on a useless National Cathedral project. We will have a government that will invest in the productive sectors and give jobs to the young people of this country,” he assured.
