WE’RE often told that the more expensive a product is, the better it will work.
But one woman has disproved the theory after showing what her hair looks like before, during and after using high-end haircare.

She revealed her hair was much healthier using a £3 buy from the highstreet[/caption]
Clara, from the US, took to social media sharing what her hair looked like when she used high-street products.
She said she often used L’Oreal shampoo and conditioner and her hair looked full, shiny and frizz-free.
The beauty fan soon went on to invest in pricier products that promised to give even better results.
Many high-end products are made without silicone as people say it can damage the hair.
But Clara found it to do the exact opposite.
She said: “Years ago, I died my hair dark, switched back to Pantene, let the dead parts grow out and chopped it all off. Going on about a year, year & 1/2 and it’s finally thickening back up!!”
In the pictures where she was using the pricey products, her hair was much thinner and looked dry and frizzy.
Eventually, Clara went back to her trusted Pantene Volumising shampoo and conditioner which you can buy for £3 from Boots.
She revealed that it not only looks thicker and glossy again, but she’s also noticed lots of new hairs starting to grow around her forehead.

The beauty fan even noticed new hair growth when she went back to her budget-friendly routine[/caption]
Is Silicone Bad For Your Hair?
There are a lot of arguments in the beauty world regarding if silicone-based products are good or bad for your hair.
While most luxury products omit the ingredient, cheaper brands tend to put it in to give the hair a sleek and shiny look.
Hair experts at Colour Wow say: “Silicones are an industry staple because the effects that they give are difficult to accomplish with alternative ingredients, for example, oils.
“Oils will give some of the benefits like shine – but typically to replace all the benefits of one silicone, you need several additional ingredients and they still won’t do the same job. Silicone is a “do it all” efficient ingredient.”
Clara’s clips have since gone viral on her TikTok account @_cmbaldwin, with over 9 million views, and people were quick to share their thoughts in the comments.
How often should you be washing your hair?

Anabel Kingsley, Consultant Trichologist and Brand President at Philip Kingsley spoke exclusively to Fabulous.
You take your hair and scalp to the same places you take your face, and it gets just as dirty.
Your scalp is also a living tissue; it sweats, produces oils and sheds skin cells.
You wouldn’t leave two days between washing your face, and you likely wouldn’t wear the same outfit more than a few times before washing it – apply the same thinking to your hair.
It is a myth that washing your hair too often causes your hair to get greasier.
Many seemed to agree that using cheaper hair products made their hair look and feel better.
One person wrote: “About time y’all realised silicones and sulfates are not the enemies.”
Another commented: “I went STRAIGHT to head and shoulders and Nizoral because Nina pool put me on. My edges came back and my hair is steadily growing. Sometimes, the basics is all we need.”
“Switched to Pantene and these post partum hairs GROWING!!!!!!! After a month, I’m so shocked vs 30$ shampoo and conditioner form salon is crazy,” penned a third.
Meanwhile, a fourth said: “Yeah, I went back to Pantene after years of not using it cause they said it was bad… My hair feels great. Idc what they say, those “healthy” products are awful.”
“I feel this way too but with Aussie. It’s the only shampoo and conditioner that has done right by my hair!! I’ve used so much expensive shampoos and nothing stands a chance,” claimed a fifth.
Someone else added: “My hair was always dry and frizzy. Went back to my good ole trusty Aussie shampoo and now, no frizz.”
