Masked men steal thousands of cash, cigarettes and jewellery in raid

MASKED men have stolen a large sum of cash, cigarettes and jewellery in a brazen raid.

The covered-up thieves stormed a shop in Musselburgh, East Lothian before making their way to a private area of the unit and making off with goods valued at five figures.

One of the crooks, who carried a ladder and donned high-vis, spoke with a Liverpudlian accent.

His accomplice donned a grey jumper, blue jeans and wore glasses.

Cops are urging anyone with information on Friday’s heist – including dashcam and Ring Doorbell footage – to get in touch.

Detective Sergeant Kim Allan said: “Our enquiries are ongoing, and we are asking anyone with information or who may have seen anything suspicious to get in touch.

“We would ask anyone with dash-cam, ring doorbell or CCTV footage to check their recordings and contact us if they believe it could assist with our investigation.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.

Alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

A force spokesperson said: “They made off with cash, cigarettes and jewellery valued at five figures.

“The two men are described as white and had black face coverings on.

“One was wearing a high visibility jacket and carrying a ladder and spoke with a Liverpudlian accent.

“The other man is described as wearing a grey jumper, blue jeans and was wearing gloves.”

Elsewhere a woman has been rushed to hospital after falling from a balcony at a block of flats in a Scots town.

Mercy crews raced to the scene on Portal Road in Grangemouth, Falkirk, after the alarm was raised at around 8 am this morning.

A 25-year-old woman was blue-lighted to Forth Valley Royal Hospital by ambulance.
