I love my new Ozempic body, I lost half my body weight thanks to fat jabs but there’s an unsettling side effect

A WOMAN who lost more than half her weight thanks to Ozempic has revealed the unsettling side effect of the fat jabs.

Amy Kane dropped from a size 28 (US 24) to a size 8 (US 4) in less than two years while on the weight loss jabs.

Thanks to Ozempic she now weighs in at just onver nine stone[/caption]

But the mum-of-three’s eyebrow-raising journey, starting at 21 stone (300lbs) and going all the way down to nine stone (135lbs), wasn’t without its drawbacks.

Amy, 34, says she loves the confidence-boosting comments and perceived difference in the way people treat her in public — but underneath her new skinny clothes, she’s hiding saggy excess skin.

Amy, who went viral after sharing her “before and after” photos, has been sharing the reality of weight loss jabs in the hope to provide comfort to others suffering from the same issue.

And it seems she is certainly not alone.

Dr. Siamak Agha, a board-certified plastic surgeon based in Newport Beach, California, told the Daily Mail that there has been an uptick in the number of patients coming in for excess skin removal after finding success on drugs like Zepbound and Wegovy.

Besides the stomach, Agha said, patients are presenting with extra skin around their faces and necks, as well as significant droopage in the posterior area.

Amy is able to cover her problem area with her outfits but underneath, she’s still struggling to shrink her stomach down.

She says she moisturizes daily and has also leaned on a treatment called Neveskin, which is said to tighten the skin by giving it the hot and cold treatment.

But while her excess skin still poses an issue, you won’t hear the mum complain about her situation.

“I’ll take this all day because my health has got a lot better,” she says.

Buying the right clothes certainly helps, the influencer recently told The NY Post.

“Invest in your health by buying yourself a dress or a pair of jeans that make you feel good,” she said.

“That’s part of the weight loss process and feeling good in your new body.”

Ozempic – an expert’s view

Dr Mitra Dutt, a GP from Lloyds Pharmacy Online Doctor, says: “Mounjaro works by activating two hormonal receptors (GIP and GLP-1), which enhance insulin production, improve insulin sensitivity and work to decrease food intake.”

Saxenda, which contains the active ingredient liraglutide, is another weight loss jab that’s been available on the NHS since 2020.

While Mounjaro is hailed as the “King Kong” fat jabs, a new weight loss drug dubbed “Godzilla” looks set to displace it.

Containing the active ingredient retatrutide, slimmers trying the drug lost up to 29 per cent of their weight in less than a year.

By comparison, trial results showed semaglutide, known as Ozempic, could lead to 15 per cent weight loss and tirzepatide, aka Mounjaro, to 23 per cent.

Retatrutide acts on three different receptors in the brain, “turbocharging” calorie burning while dulling hunger pangs.

Existing weight-loss jabs only suppress appetite, whereas the new treatment also speeds up metabolism.

The new drug is still undergoing clinical trials so it’s not yet known if it will be made available on the NHS.

Throughout her rapid transition, Amy admitted, she found herself purchasing clothes “three sizes too big.”

“But I’ve always loved fashion, and I’m happier now that I can go into any store and find great options for my body,” she explained.

“Shopping can still be a little triggering.

“But now, it’s way less anxiety-inducing.”
