Emma Watson rose to prominence at a very young age after she portrayed the fan-favorite character of Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter series. She not only garnered attention but also experience, after which she starred in movies including The Perks of Being a Wallflower, The Bling Ring, Noah, Beauty and the Beast, Little Women, and more. The actress is often called a role model, but she has not been keen on the term, as she explained that the term puts the fear of God into her.

The actress is regarded as one of the most influential personalities in the entertainment industry, and her Harry Potter character has left a significant impact on pop culture. In an interview, Emma Watson opens up about one particular scene from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows—Part 1, which she found challenging.
Harry Potter star Emma Watson admits Helena Bonham Carter did not enjoy being Bellatrix
In an interview with JoBlo, Emma Watson, who played Hermione in the Harry Potter franchise, was asked about her experience filming the harrowing torture scene with Helena Bonham Carter in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1. To which she said,
It was quite horrible to do, but it was a real challenge, and I enjoyed having the challenge, and I had that demanding thing to do… I think as Bellatrix, she’s [Bonham Carter] just terrifying because she looks so unhinged; she looks so crazy… I don’t think she actually enjoyed doing it.
Watson added that the scene showcased that she was good at her job and that Helena Bonham Carter felt uncomfortable. During this particular scene, Bellatrix Lestrange learns that Hermione has the Sword of Gryffindor, which belongs to her and, according to her, should be stored in the vault. So, Bellatrix tortures Hermione with a knife to find out the truth.

The young actress at the time, during an interview with a magazine [Magazine Spread], echoed the same emotion by explaining that the scene was weirdly affecting. She recalled that Bonham Carter told her after they filmed the scene that she didn’t enjoy it even though she gets very into the kind of evil stuff. Emma Watson added,
The mud blood idea wasn’t something that was written in the script. It’s something that Helena and I came up with, ‘Well if she’s kind of like just doing a spell on me… I obviously can make it look like it’s painful, but I think it would be really powerful to have something that the audience can physically see. So the ‘mud blood.’
Watson also noted that she filmed the scene in one take, and filmmaker David Yates let the camera roll for like two minutes and left her screaming, which she later found during the edit was perfect. However, she circled back to saying that the scene was disturbing.
In speaking to EW, Helena Bonham Carter mentioned that she probably made Bellatrix a bit more insane and unhinged compared to what was on paper. She recalled that the rotten teeth of her character were completely her idea, and it was because Bellatrix had been in prison for so long that the actress wanted her to be savage.
Helena Bonham Carter is without a doubt one of the extremely talented and respected actresses in the industry, and her characters are iconic and unforgettable.
Emma Watson called Harry Potter ‘my home, my family’
The actress who started her career at a very young age had spent most of her growing age on the sets of Harry Potter films. In 2021, ahead of the 20th anniversary of the first Harry Potter film, the actress shared a post on her social media where she wrote,
Harry Potter was my home, my family, my world, and Hermione (still is) my favorite fictional character of all time. I think a journalist once said it was irritating how many times during an interview I mentioned how lucky I was and started counting. But I damn well knew.
The actress continued that she is not just proud of what she, along with Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint, contributed as actors to the franchise but also of the children who became young adults. She recalled that she looked at her fellow cast members, and she felt proud of who everyone had become as people. Watson wrote that she is proud that they were kind and supportive towards each other.

The Harry Potter reboot series is in the works as of now, and John Lithgow has been finalized to play Albus Dumbledore. However, no other actor has been finalized to play the part, and Head of Original Content at Max, Sarah Aubrey, shared during an interview with THR that it is indeed a dream job for a lot of actors in the UK.
But at the same time, she added that the roles that they’re casting right now are for the ones who will be on the show for a decade. So, they have to be very particular about whom to pick.
There are no dates for the Harry Potter television series as of now.
