There are very few anime and manga series in the world that have managed to make an impact as big as Hajime Isayama’s Attack on Titan, which came out in 2009. The series is celebrated on a global level, and although it has concluded recently, it is still considered to be one of the best stories the anime and manga industry has ever seen.

From characters to plot, almost every aspect of Attack on Titan serves to make the series perfect, but the biggest thing that makes Attack on Titan great is the foreshadowing that is hidden throughout the narrative. These foreshadowed moments bring a sense of thrill and excitement within the series that makes it more enticing to watch and brings the viewers back for more.
One of the biggest foreshadowed moments within Attack on Titan is the accent of Annie, Reiner, and Bertholdt, which is also shared by Eren’s father, Grisha Yeager. And while the accent is questioned by their training corps, Eren is the one defending them and failing to develop a connection between them.
The secrets of Annie, Reiner, and Bertholdt
Among the many characters that were part of the 104th Training Corps in Attack on Titan, the most uncanny were Annie Leonhart, Reiner Braun, and Bertholdt Hoover. As the fans know, the three were the Titans who were sent on a mission to retrieve the Founding Titan, but within the story, they posed as normal kids from Paradis who wanted to join the military.
Annie was secretly the Female Titan, and while she was the smartest and most capable out of the three, she was also the first one to reveal her identity in the first season itself. After Annie, the second season saw the revelation of Reiner as the Armored Titan and Bertholdt as the Colossus Titan. All three of them were the biggest threats in the first two seasons of Attack on Titan.

They managed to keep their identity a secret for a very long time and only had to reveal their true self after they were cornered. Their character development and their portrayal throughout Attack on Titan were too good, and thus, they held a lot of significance within the story until the very end.
Hajime Isayama foreshadowed Annie, Reiner, and Bertholdt’s identity
Although the real identities of Annie, Reiner, and Bertholdt are eventually revealed in Attack on Titan, Hajime Isayama foreshadowed them since their introduction within the series. The three of them try to hide their real identities as much as possible, but still there were some aspects of their character that were questioned by other individuals in the training corps.

The first was their accents, which were different from the general population of Paradis. As all three of them were from Marley, they had different ways of pronouncing things, and this was noticed by Marco Bott, who suggested that they might be from the same region.
my favorite thought is reiner, annie, and bertholdt having foreign accents and slang that the 104th would question.. and eren brushing them off like “guys its not a big deal my dad talks like that sometimes too”

However, this theory was immediately dismissed as Eren pointed out that there was nothing different about their accent because his father also talked like them. This was one of the biggest foreshadowed moments in the series.
This was the first instance where the connection between the four was hinted at by Isayama, and when Eren discovered their real identity, he should have figured out the truth about his father, too. But at the time, Eren was too innocent to notice these things, and despite being the protagonist of Attack on Titan, he couldn’t have comprehended it.
Attack on Titan is available to stream on Crunchyroll.
