The Batman Is Too Scared to Watch Horror Movies- Robert Pattinson Confesses His Biggest Fear

Watching horror movies is all fun and games until it is midnight and every little noise feels like there is someone – or something – out to get you. Robert Pattinson is NOT a fan! Despite being in a psychological thriller (The Lighthouse) himself, the actor simply doesn’t have it in himself to deal with the aftermath of watching these scary flicks that will most probably keep you up at night.

He recently recalled an anecdote about how he fell asleep with not one, but two knives in his hands, afraid of intruders or entities coming into his house and giving him the scare of his life. Just when we thought Robert Pattinson couldn’t get more adorable…

For his upcoming film with Bong Joon-ho, Mickey 17 (Click here to read FandomWire’s review), the actor-director duo sat down with GQ for an “epic conversation” where they talked about everything from their guilty pleasures to future projects.

During the discussion, Bong asked Robert Pattinson if he would ever consider playing a serial killer in the future, and he replied, “I almost did.” After complimenting one of his favorites in the genre, Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer (1986), Pattinson revealed that he is too scared to watch horror films now, even though he was a fan in his younger days.

As it turns out, age has just made Pattinson a tad bit too “sensitive” to it all. He stated,

It’s funny ’cause I remember I used to watch a lot of like really dark stuff when I was younger and just think, like, ‘Yeah, this is cool,’ and now I’m too sensitive. I watched ‘Henry’ again the other day and it really frightened me. It’s strange how, like, you would think it would go the other way around. Like, as you get older, you become less frightened of this. I can’t watch horror movies anymore.

Pattinson echoes the thoughts of a huge chunk of movie lovers who will do anything but watch the latest horror flick. We don’t blame him, though. Sometimes it is just too much to handle, especially if we have to sleep alone at the end of the day!

Bong assumed that Pattinson’s fear of horror movies could have been the result of him becoming a father. For those unaware, he shares a daughter with his girlfriend, Suki Waterhouse. However, Pattinson admitted that the fear was there long before the little girl came into his life.

Continuing the conversation, Pattinson revealed that he once had to take preventive measures after watching a horror film by a director he was to work with. What measures, you ask? Well, let’s just say that they weren’t exactly the safest option he could’ve gone with.

After watching the movie, Pattinson became a tad bit paranoid and fully believed someone was breaking into his house. His idea? Sit on the couch with knives in his hands. However, little did he know that he was going to fall asleep with them.

I had to do a meeting with the director, and he’d done this horror movie, and I watched it, and I kept thinking that someone was breaking into my house. And so I was sitting on my sofa with two kitchen knives waiting for the person to come in. And then I fell asleep with them basically in my neck on the couch.

When Waterhouse walked onto the scene, she was quite confused and rightly so. Pattinson added, “My girlfriend came in and she was like, ‘What is happening? Why do you have two knives in your face and you’re sleeping?’” As for the conclusion on the whole supposed “break-in”, Pattinson now believes that “it was probably a squirrel.” Well, isn’t that a plot twist?

Mickey 17 will be released in the United States on March 07.
