President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama has condemned what he describes as shoddy work done on a resettlement housing project ongoing in one of the communities affected by the Tidal Waves.
The president is of the view that as a country we must do better to ensure the lives of the people are protected.
He made this known when he visited the Volta Region on March 6, 2025.
The President used the opportunity to assure the people that funds will be allocated in the 2025 budget for Phase Two of the Berekusu Sea Defence Project.

Today, on Independence Day, my heart was with the people of Amutinu, Salakope, and Agavedzi who are battling the devastating effects of tidal waves. I spent the afternoon with them, witnessing firsthand the challenges they face. We distributed food, relief items, and provided some cash support.
Seeing the devastation reinforced my commitment to finding a long-term solution. I will instruct the finance minister to allocate funds in the 2025 budget for Phase Two of the Berekusu Sea Defence Project. We must protect these communities.
I was shocked by the shoddy work done on a resettlement housing project ongoing in one of the communities. We must do better for our people.
