Time for another “Royals! They’re just like us!” moment. According to new reports, Kate Middleton … the Princess of Wales … the future Queen of England, is in a mom group chat. And not just any mom group chat.
In a new documentary, Prince George: How to Make a Monarch, a royal expert revealed that Middleton is in a mom group chat about her kids’ school. (Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Luis, 6 are all currently attending Lambrook School.)
“Apparently Catherine has a WhatsApp group where she communicates with other parents, so it’s very much quite a normal upbringing,” Ailsa Anderson, former press secretary for Queen Elizabeth, said, per InStyle. And now we have so. many. questions.
Kate. Middleton is in a parent’s group chat? On WhatsApp?! What kind of group chat member is she? Does she actually read the messages or is someone else on top of it for her? Does she react with emojis? Gifs?! Memes?! Does she participate or is she a fly on the wall? How in the world did she get added? Is there not some kind of royal rule against joining something so … informal? Did the other parents have to sign an NDA to not share the content of Middleton’s messages? Are they freaking out just as much as we are?
Because they should be.
According to reports, Middleton also frequents her kids’ sporting events (we know she showed up to 6-year-old Prince Louis’ soccer game!) and school fundraisers.
Psychotherapist Lucy Beresford had thoughts on these remarkable tidbits. “I think William and Kate making sure that George, Charlotte, and Louis have these normalizing experiences where they just interact with really normal people actually gives them that grounded sense that they are human beings like the rest of us—they’re not rarified, they’re not elevated, and it could hopefully dilute that sense of ‘I’m invincible.’”

ICYMI: WhatsApp isn’t the only unexpected app that Middleton apparently frequents. Earlier this week, the future queen and her kiddos made headlines for reportedly using the popular language-learning app, Duolingo. The news came after Prince William made an appearance and Wales and showed off his Welsh skills. It has been a longstanding royal tradition that the [future] monarchs learn Welsh, and now the next generation of royals are following suit.
And so now we wonder if Middleton has recommended via the group chat that Lambrook start a Welsh after school club. Because as impressive as the Duolingo owl is, nothing beats IRL exposure.
These relatable moments show that Kate Middleton may be a royal mom — but she’s a regular mom too.
