Fans have already claimed Solo Leveling’s second season as one of the best anime of 2025 and we’re only 3 months in. A-1 Pictures, the studio behind Solo Leveling, has done a fantastic job.
Other manhwa-to-anime adaptations, however, haven’t been receiving the same amount of love and effort from their studios. Recently, Studio A-Cat released their preview of The Beginning After The End’s anime adaptation, and fans are not impressed.

Considering the mediocre nature of its animation, fans begrudgingly joke that all the energy towards a great manhwa-to-anime adaptation will go towards Solo Leveling. Tower of God, too, was a disappointment after the quality dipped in Season 2.
One manhwa, in particular, has a special place in any anime fans’ hearts: Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint. It’s coming soon to Crunchyroll, although the studio and potential release date are unknown. However, if it receives the same treatment as other failed adaptations, fans will not be happy.
Will Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint face the same demise as other failed manhwa adaptations?
In general, I try to appreciate the efforts made by most animation studios. The animators work hard and tirelessly with little pay to bring these stories on-screen. However, the dip in quality for most manhwa adaptations is a pattern even I can’t ignore. Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint deserves better.

The live-action adaptation of Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint already looks questionable. The characters, who wield swords and bows, are using guns instead.
Yoo Joonghyuk’s signature black sword is replaced by a pistol, at least in the trailer. If the real character ever saw that, I bet he’d call Lee Minho’s version pathetic. So who’s to say the anime won’t disappoint?
With Solo Leveling rising through the ranks, thanks to A-1 Pictures’ animation style and efforts, it’s not looking good for other manhwa adaptations. The Beginning After The End’s trailer is underwhelming, to say the least. A fan of Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint on X seems to be in denial about this pattern.
DON’T SAY THIS I NEED OMNISCIENT READERS VIEWPOINT TO BE GOOD

Whichever studio picks up Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint needs to do justice to the story. Most rumors say that it might be Ufotable or A-1 Pictures. Personally, if either of them picks up the manhwa, I believe it’ll be in good hands.
Can the anime really be worse than the live-action?
The Korean live-action film is getting heat for its trailer. Fans have already decided it’s been butchered, and while I usually don’t jump to conclusions, I can’t say I feel differently.

Lee Minho might be a high-profile actor but he just doesn’t suit Yoo Joonghyuk. Adaptations don’t have to be an exact copy, but the fact that they’d change the weaponry from the iconic swords and bows to mere guns feels like a cop-out.
The same rule applies to the anime adaptation of Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint. While I don’t expect a lot from the animation style, it can replicate the source material better than the film. Animation will always have the advantage of creativity over live-action.
Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint is available on Tapas.
