Annual Livestock Pass Training Empowers Ranchers with Fire Safety Skills

Sheriff LaRue participated in the 4th annual Livestock Pass Training hosted by UCCE Siskiyou, aimed at commercial ranchers and livestock owners. The training spanned four hours and covered essential topics such as fire behavior, the evacuation process, and safety considerations. It also highlighted the importance of the Livestock Pass program for livestock owners during emergencies. Attendees were treated to a lunch provided by the Siskiyou County Cattlemen’s Association and will receive their livestock passes in early May.

Acknowledgments were extended to UCCE’s Grace Woodmansee for managing the Livestock Pass Program, and to speakers from the Siskiyou County Office of Emergency Services, U.S. Forest Service – Klamath National Forest, and CAL FIRE Siskiyou Unit for their ongoing support in enhancing fire safety and preparedness.
