John Cena decided to mark the end of his career in 2024, announcing his retirement plans at the WWE Money in the Bank Premium Live Event. The 16-time World Champion announced a ‘farewell tour’ that will see the end of his career in December 2025 and Cena appearing for close to 30-40 dates.
The Champ’s farewell tour started with his first match as part of the 2025 Men’s Royal Rumble, which he failed to win. However, Cena bounced back with a win in the Elimination Chamber match to secure his spot in the main event of WrestleMania 41.

Moreover, much like Cena, there are other names on the current WWE roster who are towards the end of their careers and could soon be hanging up their boots for good. Here are the top four WWE stars who may end up retiring soon, much like The Face that Runs the Place, John Cena:
4. Kofi Kingston

Kofi Kingston made his debut for WWE in the mid-2000s. In his early years, Kingston was pursuing a singles wrestling career and it led to him winning multiple championships in the process. In 2014, his career took a turn when he, Xavier Woods and Big Day united to form The New Day.
The faction went on to become one of the greatest WWE stables of all time, winning a total of 13 tag team championships. Not only that, Kofi ascended to the top in 2019 by defeating Daniel Bryan to win his first WWE Championship at WrestleMania 35, which came to be known as ‘KofiMania.’

Kingston has spent close to two decades in the company. So, the time could be closing on his career as an in-ring competitor in WWE and Kofi might decide to hang up his boots soon.
3. Sheamus

The tough and dominant brute from Ireland, Sheamus, made his debut in WWE in 2008. In just a year, The Celtic Warrior defeated John Cena, who recently turned heel in shocking fashion, to win his first WWE Championship. That night cemented the fact that Sheamus was poised for great things in the global juggernaut.
For the next decade and a half, Sheamus went on to capture multiple championships and accolades and wrestled some of the biggest names, like Edge, Randy Orton, and Daniel Bryan. So, there is a possibility that Sheamus might call it quits as soon as he is in the final years of his in-ring career in WWE.
2. AJ Styles

AJ Styles is credited to be one of the most supreme in-ring athletes in the world of professional wrestling. After competing for other top promotions, Styles debuted in WWE in 2016 and has been a top fixture for the company for eight years.
Moreover, it was reported that, much like John Cena, AJ Styles was also set to have a farewell tour that would have begun in October 2024. But he got injured, and those plans were scrapped. With Styles having already signed the final wrestling contract of his career, the time for the retirement of the man Undertaker calls the modern-day Shawn Michaels might be closer than expected.
1. CM Punk

CM Punk shocked the world by returning to WWE in 2023. Since that night, The Best in the World has become a prime attraction for WWE television programming. He has been featured in top matches and main events and has proven that he still has a lot of gas left in the tank.

However, it is no secret that age is catching up to CM Punk. He is currently 46 years old. At this age, wrestlers are possibly looking at the end of their careers, much like John Cena, who is currently 48 years old.
The Second City Saint has had a remarkable run and is looking to feud with John Cena and The Rock on the road to WrestleMania 41. However, the time might be running out for CM Punk’s career, and he could be heading towards retirement in the near future.
