Popular webtoon The Beginning After the End, is all set to receive its anime debut in April 2025. Fans of the manhwa had been pretty excited about the release, that is until more and more details were revealed about the upcoming adaptation. As I keep going through more and more promotional materials, a deep-seated fear inside me seems to be coming true.

After the huge success of Solo Leveling, fans naturally hoped for a similar adaptation for TBATE. However, everything from its trailer and visuals to promotional materials has been nothing but mid. Thus I am forced to think that what if TBATE becomes the next Tower of God?
The Beginning After the End anime might not have a bright future ahead

First of all, The Beginning After the End anime is being animated by Studio A-Cat. Despite being founded a bit less than three decades ago, the studio only has less than 15 anime under its name. None of them have reached critical acclaim or are even deemed popular.
Secondly, its official trailer does not seem impressive. After watching the trailer, I could not differentiate it from the dime-a-dozen isekai anime that crops up in huge numbers every anime season. Additionally, the use of CGI makes the movements seem a bit too erratic. Fans are also expressing concerns about the animation quality.
After watching the trailer, a major question crops up in my mind, will Studio A-Cat be able to capture the emotional depth of the characters? The complex world-building will be extremely hard to adapt, but at the same time, it is the core of the story. Of course, there’s also the fact that TBATE‘s story is no longer special in an isekai oversaturated market. Thus, standing out would be exhausting unless the studio gives its level best.
Does TBATE have a worse fate than Tower of God season 2?
Tower of God was another webtoon-to-anime adaptation that had huge potential but faced a disastrous end. The series initially gained popularity for its animation and unique premise. However, watching the anime after reading the manhwa made it clear that the world-building of the source material was butchered in the anime.

Character interactions were also ignored, and while the most important plot points were covered, they received average treatment. Without its quirky tale being properly adapted, Tower of God turned out like any other run-of-the-mill Shonen and not the webtoon that I fell in love with.
Additionally, the second season of Tower of God showed a noticeable decline in quality. From pacing issues to downright bad animation, it was rife with issues. And all of this is despite the fact that it was picked up by a pretty well-known animation studio. Thus, I and plenty of other fans are naturally worried about TBATE‘s fate and whether it would receive even worse treatment than Tower of God.
The Beginning After the End anime will air on April 2, 2025.
