Destiny 2’s Friendliest Vendor Could Be One of the Strongest Enemies Guardians Have Faced in Combat

In the vast and mysterious world of Destiny 2, Guardians come face to face with a variety of formidable foes, ranging from Hive creatures to ruthless warlords. But perhaps one of the most enigmatic and potentially dangerous figures in the game is someone we rarely know about, The Nine.

Adding to this mysterious faction is the secret vendor that offers Guardians exotic weapons and gear every weekend: Xûr. To most players, he is just the friendly vendor who helps Guardians become more powerful by selling them exotic items in exchange for a special currency.

Even though he’s a mysterious figure, he’s never been seen as a threat. But after his recent statement, he might just be one of the biggest ones, should he ever go head-to-head with us.

An unsettling line that breaks the immersion in Destiny 2

As much as Xûr might seem like a friendly face at the Tower with all his exotic goodies, there’s more to him than meets the eye. He is part of The Nine faction, which is one of the most mysterious factions in Destiny 2, and little is known about them.

What we do know is that they are deeply tied to the Sol system. Each member of the Nine is inherently connected to the planets they inhabit, and this cosmic link makes them, in a distant way, connected to the Guardians, who have sworn to protect the same worlds.

Despite this rather deep connection, the faction rarely interacts with the Guardians directly. Instead, it just sends its agent, Xûr, to deal with us. But even though he appears to be doing us a favor by providing us with exotic weapons, the truth may be that his true intentions are still shrouded in mystery.

One line that stands out from the vendor in particular: “Do not be alarmed. I know no reason to cause you harm.” This statement is strange and unsettling. Why? The Guardians are some of the most powerful warriors in the galaxy. They have fought and defeated gods, monsters, and tyrants.

Just heard an interesting Xur line…

Why would a vendor feel the need to reassure Guardians, who have been through countless battles with unstoppable enemies, that they shouldn’t be alarmed by him? This suggests that there could be more to his role in the game than merely acting as a vendor.

The hidden agenda of the Nine and Xûr

The mystery surrounding Xûr and the Nine is one of the reasons why they are so intriguing. Despite their apparent benevolence in helping us become more powerful, it’s important to remember that the Nine have never revealed their true purpose or intentions.

After all, they are tied to the very fabric of the universe. They’re not bound by the same limitations as the Guardians, and their motives might not align with ours. Given the power that the faction holds, it’s not hard to imagine that their vendor could one day become one of our most formidable enemies.

With Destiny 2 continuing to expand and the lore around the Nine remaining an ongoing mystery, it’s possible that Xûr could become one of the most dangerous foes the Guardians will ever face.

For now, he remains a vendor, but there is always a possibility that the man behind the counter, who seems to have our best interests at heart, may one day be a significant threat that Guardians have to face head-on.

In the end, only time will tell if the Nine’s true motives will be revealed and whether Xûr will be revealed as the ally he seems to be or the enemy we never saw coming.
