Plumas County Welcomes New Law Enforcement and Judicial Leaders in 2025

With the entry into 2025, several changes have been observed in the realms of law enforcement and the Superior Court in Plumas County. The introduction of Lt. Lacey Carney and Lt. Ryan Pedersen marks a notable shift in local law enforcement leadership. Carney, now the commander of the Susanville California Highway Patrol, oversees operations in north Plumas County. Pedersen has taken on the role of Quincy CHP commander. Both officers bring a solution-focused approach to their roles, promising positive impacts on the community.

In the sheriff’s office, Sheriff Todd Johns has appointed Jeremy Beatley as the patrol commander and Tom Froggatt as the administrative sergeant. Both Beatley and Froggatt have demonstrated a strong commitment and innovative thinking, which are expected to greatly benefit the county moving forward.

On the judicial side, the Honorable William Abramson has assumed his role as one of the two Superior Court judges, while Sue Selegean-Dostal has taken over as the court executive officer. Their contributions have already been significant, enhancing the legal community with their expertise and leadership in their new positions.

Plumas County continues to offer a level of safety and security that is commendable, though criminal cases still present challenges that require attention. This update serves to inform on the current state of public safety and the ongoing cases being managed by the District Attorney’s office.
