MAFS Australia groom packs bags as he walks out on bride less than two days after wedding

MARRIED At First Sight Australia has lost its first groom of the new series after he QUIT during the honeymoon.

In a sneak peek look, Eliot can be seen packing his bags after jetting to Fraser Island in Queensland with his new wife Lauren.

Eliot told the cameras he had a list of “non negotiable” reasons why he was walking out on his 37-year-old new wife.

The 35-year-old draftsman said: “There are definitely things on my non negotiable list that don’t line up.

“I’m not into luxury luggage. It’s just things I know I’m not willing to compromise on.”

Eliot and Lauren were shown tying the knot in Monday’s launch show for Married At First Sight Australia 2025.

However, Eliot managed to get both MAFS fans and grooms’ backs up within minutes of the episode getting underway at the Bucks’ Party.

The businessman ruffled feathers as he admitted he had the “longest list of non-negotiables” and said he would not entertain the thought of a marriage with a “trashy, obnoxious” woman.

He then appeared to have a clash with 38-year-old primary school teacher, Tim.

Eliot told Tim that his idea of “over-caring” for his partner would give him “the ick”, while Tim admitted off camera: “That to me is a bit of a red flag.”

His wedding day with Lauren was also marred by her wayward sister Tamara, who irritated both them and fans at home.

But despite Tamara causing trouble, the couple did manage to make it through their Big Day and jetted off on honeymoon together.

Yet in a trailer for the next episode, his bride Lauren looks exasperated as Eliot stuffs clothes into his suitcase upstairs.

The Sun previously told how Eliot also takes a major issue with Lauren’s age – 37, which is two years younger than himself, before he walks out.

The businessman, who described himself as a “catch”, complains to a producer: “There was definitely things on my non-negotiables, right?’

“I wanted someone that was younger than me, preferably someone under 30.”

Mafs couples that have stood the test of time

Loved-up Tayah Victoria and Adam Aveling of series six fame had the first Mafs baby.

The pair couldn’t keep their hands off each other on the programme and quickly found their feet in the outside world, moving into Adam’s Doncaster home.

Just 18 months after meeting, the couple welcomed their daughter Beau.

Season five couple Michelle Walder and Owen Jenkins also managed to make their marriage work away from the cameras and had their first child in December.

Teacher Michelle, 29, has no regrets about taking part in the experiment. She told us: “I just feel very lucky and thankful that it has worked out – and excited for everything to come.”

Michelle and Owen were both sick of dating apps when they applied in 2019.

Owen recalled: “I had been out for some drinks with a friend after work.

“While he was out for a cigarette I was scrolling on Instagram waiting for him to come back in.

“The MAFS advert was the last thing I saw, and I joked, ‘Wouldn’t it be funny if I signed up?’

“A few beers later when I was back at home I sent in the application, and the rest is history.”

Another couple to make Mafs UK history is Zoe Clifton and Jenna Robinson.

Despite a slight rocky start, where they clashed over Jenna’s vegan lifestyle, the show’s first same sex pairing are still going strong.

They even have a successful podcast together called Life With a Pod.

Jenna shed light on being involved in the show earlier this year when she told us: “We’re not legally married, and I never felt like we were. I definitely feel the process makes you take the relationship a lot more seriously and having the help of the experts… if you can survive that process it sets a firm foundation for a long-lasting relationship.”

In a brutal blow, he tells his new wife: “There’s just some things that I know I’m not willing to compromise on.”

The 12th season of Married At First Sight Australia  kicked off this week and fans are in for a wild ride.

The series also features cheating scandals, a wife swap and a groom who ditched his bride because she was “too old”.

Fans will be horrified to see the “deflated” man dismiss his match before their honeymoon because she was not “petite”.
