“It’s a very interesting world”: Taylor Sheridan’s Landman Season 2 Can Wipe Away Demi Moore’s Biggest Career Stain After Oscars 2025 Snub

Since finding his groove in television with Yellowstone, Taylor Sheridan has shown little interest in straying away from Westerns. Although he experimented with shows, including Tulsa King and Mayor of Kingstown, Westerns have primarily been his forte, as it seems Landman will be his next major endeavor after Yellowstone‘s conclusion.

Although season 2 is yet to be officially greenlit, given its strong viewership on Paramount Plus and Demi Moore’s previous comments, it seems almost inevitable, and it also has the potential to ameliorate Moore’s Oscar loss.

Considering Demi Moore was heading into the Oscars with a Golden Globe win under her belt for The Substance, she was reasonably considered one of the favorites to land the accolade for Best Actress. But with Mikey Madison taking the prestige home, thanks to her immaculate performance in Sean Baker‘s Anora, which dominated the Oscars last night, it’s now on Landman‘s shoulder to mitigate Moore’s Oscar defeat.

Even though a second season hasn’t been officially announced yet, per The Substance star, filming for the follow-up season was expected to kickstart in early 2025 (via Deadline).

It’s a very interesting world in the boomtown of Fort Worth, Texas. It’s kind of this subculture that we haven’t seen before, which is what I think Taylor does so well… I’ve already completed the first season and I’m excited for us to start the second which will be at the beginning of next year.

Given how excited she was for the gig and how Season 1 lays the groundwork for some exciting story threads for potential follow-ups, the new Sheridan IP indeed has the potential to earn Moore her long-awaited glory at the Emmys.

Taylor Sheridan’s writing credentials were enough to get Demi Moore on board.

Interestingly, Sheridan’s track record and ambition for the story were enough to get the Oscar-nominated star hooked in Landman, which sees her in the shoes of Cami, the wife and power behind Jon Hamm‘s Monty Miller. Another aspect that pulled her into the project was Taylor Sheridan‘s excellence when it comes to penning “incredible, complex, dynamic and delicious women who are powerful, vulnerable, flawed” (via Vanity Fair).

Taylor works in a very unique way, and every actor that he meets with—we basically sit down, we hear what he’s looking to do, where he’s looking to go, and we have to say yes or no based on that. There’s no script.

As for the delays in a season 2 reveal, it might have to do with the Sicario writer’s commitment to other Paramount projects, including the Yellowstone spin-offs, such as 1923, whose second season premiered last month.

Landman is available to stream on Paramount Plus.
