Alan Ritchson Has Ended the Steroid Allegations for Good but Fans Can’t Still Accept the Fact That He Went Through TRT

With the third season of Reacher, Alan Ritchson once again proves why he is a better choice than Tom Cruise. He clearly carries the tall, hulking figure of Jack Reacher in the series, that Lee Child originally envisioned in the books. Fans would love to know what the muscle man’s secret to his ripped body is. Many wouldn’t be thrilled to know that he resorts to Testosterone Replacement Therapy.

Ritchson had to keep his huge appearance for the role and the TRT therapy was recommended to him by a doctor. Other than TRT, the actor largely depended on his diet to keep his huge body. He once shared that he had to eat constantly to maintain his huge physique.

Alan Ritchson has been open about seeking Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) to help with his physique. In an industry where any kind of steroid use is considered a bad thing, Ritchson clearly stated that a doctor suggested his TRT therapy after he was left broken and fatigued after the first season.

During an interview with Thomas DeLauer who helped him with his physique for a film, he shared that he used testosterone to help gain weight for Reacher. After the first season of Reacher, he was suffering from an injured shoulder which affected his weight gain for the role.

A few months after the challenging first season, his doctor suggested that he should try TRT to help with his weight gain. It isn’t the first time that Ritchson has opened up about his TRT therapy. During an interview with Men’s Health, he shared that he understood the critical viewpoints surrounding the use of TRT. He shared, “People can think what they want, but I work out very hard.”

He further added that he didn’t know that testosterone was considered an “anabolic steroid” by some people. He shared, “It was just: There was a hormone that was missing for me, and I needed it.” With his revelation, Alan Ritchson has become one of the few celebrities in Hollywood who have openly embraced TRT in helping them put on weight.

Alan Ritchson earlier shared that he ate cookies and pizzas to build the physique of military investigator Jack Reacher in Prime Video’s Reacher. During an interview with Business Insider, he shared, “You gotta eat constantly. You have to eat every five to 10 minutes. A lot of pizza, a lot of cookies, and millions of pushups.”

During his interview with Thomas DeLauer, he confirmed that he ate all kinds of foods, including cookies. He explained that his body “never really had a problem eating whatever I wanted.” However, he shared with DeLauer that every unhealthy food was accompanied by some extra time in the gym or an extra mile of running.

During an earlier interview with Men’s Health, Ritchson shared that he would eat anything that works for him. According to the outlet, Ritchson consumed 4,000 calories per day to maintain his huge physique. He also resorted to cable exercises and complemented it with cardio and a little fight training.

He kept his gym time to just 20 or 30 minutes to avoid overtraining and getting injured. He follows it up with a recovery time in the sauna for 15 minutes, which is his “zen time”. Ritchson is 6ft 2in, playing the role of Reacher.

Reacher Season 3 has already released four episodes on Prime Video. The series will release the rest of the episodes on a weekly basis until March 27.
