Marks and Spencer bosses said the waistcoat is “easy to wear”.

They said: “This waistcoat is crafted from wool-look fabric for a premium feel.

“It’s designed in a tailored fit for a smart silhouette and features added stretch for comfort.

“The sleek, collarless design fastens with a neat button at the front, and has a longline shape for a modern touch.

“M&S Collection: easy-to-wear wardrobe staples that combine classic and contemporary styles.”

It ranges in sizes 6 to 24 but popular sizes have been snapped up online already.

Sizes 6, 8, 10, 12, 22 and 24 have sold out on the website already.

The waistcoat is €65 and the matching Woven Pleat Front Wide Leg Trousers cost €55.

The tailored pants range in sizes 6 to 24 and come in short, regular or long.

The retailer said: “These wide-leg trousers are crafted from a lightweight woven fabric for a breezy feel.

“They’re made with a flattering high waist and feature front pleats for added shape.

“A hook bar and zip fastening ensures a neat look, while added stretch provides comfort.”

Shoppers took to reviews to rate the pastel coloured co-ord.

One person said: “Lovely, got the trousers to match with nice light weight. Nice fit, great price, great colour.”

Another said: “This is lovely! The colour is a buttercream, very soft and flattering.

“I will wear this in summer on its own and in colder spring with the jacket -so nice.

“True to size, slight stretch, comfortable with lovely detail on the back.”

One fan shared: “This is gorgeous, I love the colour, not too yellow, more a buttermilk.

“The fit is so slimming and the quality excellent. I have to buy longer waistcoats as the short ones look silly on me, this is perfect.

“Can be smart or casual. Well done Marks, more colours please.”

While another added: “Lovely soft lemon colour great form spring-summer wear, purchased the trousers to match. Very happy with this purchase.

“Material doesn’t seem to crease too badly which will be great when wearing during the better weather.”

HISTORY OF MARKS & SPENCER

WHEN Michael Marks, an immigrant from the north of England, was able to obtain a stall in Leeds’ Kirkgate Market in 1884, M&S was born.

He used the catchphrase “Don’t ask the price, it’s a ‘penny’” to build his career after arriving with little money and minimal command of English.

His little booth selling basic home goods was rapidly booming because of this simple idea and his diligent work.

Michael teamed up with Dewhirst wholesalers’ cashier Tom Spencer to help his expanding firm.

This collaboration gave rise to “Marks & Spencer” and its initial Penny Bazaar locations, which helped the company take shape as we know it today.

Marks & Spencer then went on to first opened its doors in Ireland on Mary Street in Dublin on November 13, 1979.

More than 15,000 purchases were made on the first day of trading.
