IRELAND has a new millionaire after one lucky Lotto punter scooped a life-changing €2.6m jackpot.
And a second player was just one ball away from sharing the mega prize – but did manage to bag a six-figure sum instead.

The two players will have a great start to the month after landing the huge prizes.
The winner of the main draw tonight picked up a jackpot worth a whopping €2,655,366.
The winning numbers were 2, 6, 7, 10, 28 and 32, with 19 drawn out as the bonus number.
The other lucky punter who managed to match five numbers plus the bonus, landed a prize of €119,357.
In total, over 85,000 players won prizes in the Lotto & Lotto Plus draws tonight.
Meanwhile, Lotto bosses have revealed where a EuroMillions Plus ticket worth a life-changing €500,000 was sold last night.
The Dubliner purchased the winning Quick Pick ticket on the day of the draw from Spar, New Cabra Road, Cabra, Dublin 7.
The winning numbers in the Friday, February 28, EuroMillions Plus draw were: 20, 32, 34, 42 and 48.
Spokesperson for the National Lottery, Darragh O’Dwyer said: “One player in the capital is waking up this morning €500,000 richer after matching all 5 numbers in last night’s EuroMillions Plus draw.
“In total over 46,000 players in Ireland won prizes in last night’s EuroMillions and EuroMillions Plus draws.
“We’re now urging all players who bought their EuroMillions Plus tickets from Spar, New Cabra Road, Cabra, Dublin 7 on Friday, to carefully check their tickets – you could be sitting on a fortune of €500,000 and not even know it yet!”
The National Lottery is urging all players in the Dublin area to check their tickets carefully and if you’re holding the winning ticket, be sure to contact the National Lottery prize claims team on 1800 666 222 or email claims@lottery.ie to arrange the collection of your prize.
Meanwhile, the National Lottery has issued an urgent warning to anyone who purchased or was gifted a Christmas scratch card as players don’t have long to claim their festive cash.
DEADLINE NEAR
The ‘Hampers & Cash’, ‘Countdown to Christmas’ and ‘Merry Money’ games are set to expire in just weeks.
Players have 90 days from the game’s end date to claim their prize, meaning they have just over 4 weeks to claim it.
The claim deadline for all Christmas scratch card prizes is close of business on Thursday, April 3.
Players are also reminded that there is a Christmas Bonus Draw worth €5,000 still up for grabs!
Players can enter by scanning the QR code on the scratch card or by manually entering the access code on christmasbonus.lottery.ie.
Any entries received after 10am of 3 January 2025 will be added to the final draw, which will take place at 10am on Friday, April 4.
