Clever ‘zoning’ trick that lets you pick the best seats on the plane every time

GETTING a good seat on a flight can be tricky but an expert “zoning” technique could help flyers land a good spot everytime.

This smart seating hack can also help keep journeys cheaper, a travel expert revealed.

Most passengers take whatever seat is handed to them at check-in but a zoning method could make travelling a “much more pleasant experience for everyone”.

Dawn Morwood, the Co-Director of Cheap Deals Away, advised flyers not to just accept any seat they are randomly given.

This travel expert has broken a plane down into two seating categories, to help people find the best place for them.

The front zone

Dawn explained that the first few rows of a plane are ideal for older relatives.

The expert listed several benefits for people of this age group, which included the area being quieter and experiencing less turbulence.

Dawn said: “Book aisle seats near the front for older family members.

“This makes boarding and getting off much easier, plus they’ll have quick access to the loos.”

The middle zone

Parents with kids have been advised to book themselves into the middle section of the plane.

Dawn especially recommended the seats near the wings for people flying with young children.

The expert said: “This area experiences the least turbulence, which is great for little ones who might get nervous.”

She also gave parents a huge tip on which seat could keep kids quieter for longer.

She said: “Choose window seats for the kids – it keeps them entertained with the view and means they won’t be disturbed by other passengers needing to get past.”

Dawn also revealed that some airlines offer free seat selection for families, so this could help keep travel costs down.

The flexible zone

Although families usually want to sit together, teenage and solo flyers have the opportunity to sit apart.

Dawn explained how parents can give their older kids some freedom while being able to make sure they are safe.

She said: “Teens often appreciate having their own space.

“Book them aisle or window seats within sight but not right next to you.

“It gives them independence while keeping them close enough if needed.”

Controversial trends

Although this travel hack could save people on stress, some other trends have become an issue for flyers.

The new “seat squatting” rage has driven some people mad.

It is when a passenger steals an assigned seat and then refuse to move out of it.
