Liam Payne’s girlfriend Kate Cassidy mourns star in emotional post as she returns to art museum they visited together

LIAM Payne’s girlfriend Kate Cassidy has shared an emotional tribute to the late star by revisiting one of their date spots.

The social media star returned to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and had a picture taken in exactly the same spot the pair once posed.

In the image of them together, they were surrounded by ornate street lanterns but only had eyes for each other.

Kate, dressed in a baby blue mini dress, placed her hands affectionately on Liam as they smiled at one another.

In the second, Kate stood alone with her back to the camera, wearing a white vest top and jogging bottoms.

She wrote: “I thought this place would feel empty without you, but instead, it’s filled with the warmth of this moment we shared.”

The outdoor exhibit is called The Story of Urban Light by Chris Burden and has been a fixture at the museum since 2008.

Next week Kate is set to make an appearance on ITV show Lorraine, for her first TV chat since Liam’s death.

Earlier this month she sat down with The Sun for her first interview and shared her regret at leaving him alone before his tragic balcony fall.

Liam plunged to his death from his hotel balcony in Argentina in October last year.

US influencer Kate, 25, will speak about his mental health struggles for Lorraine’s new March4March campaign, which supports those who suffer with mental health challenges.

It encourages people to take steps inside or out, and for viewers to collectively walk three million steps – the equivalent of the length of the UK.

The Mirror reports: “Kate has been so brave by agreeing to the Lorraine interview. It is her first TV interview since the tragic death of Liam. She talks to Lorraine about their life together as well as his mental health struggles.

“It’s all part of Lorraine’s new March4March campaign. She was persuaded to take part in it. It wasn’t easy because she has been trying to keep a low profile since his death but the media interest in her has been huge.”

Kate previously hit back at critics who accused her of abandoning Liam in Argentina.

She told of their “fairytale romance”, how she supported him “through thick and thin” and shared touching photographs, including her last snap of Liam, 31.

Kate exclusively told The Sun: “Love is so optimistic, and you just hope that everything will work out at the end. Obviously if I knew, if I could see into the future, I would never have left Argentina.”

She debunked internet conspiracy theories that she’d returned to their Florida home after a break-up and rows — explaining she dashed back to look after their rescue dog, Nala.

Kate also believes his fall from a hotel balcony last October was an accident and not suicide.

Recalling her trip home, she said: “I had a responsibility, we had a responsibility. We had our dog and obviously I never, ever thought this event would occur.

“It was a tragic accident and no, I never did think (he might die young). But, you know, we did have our own separate lives — this wasn’t the first time we have travelled separately.

“I just never thought this would have happened, that it would turn out the way it did.”

Kate added: “It still doesn’t feel fully real for me that he’s not here.

“I’m trying to be the best I can be, but I feel like my life has changed so much. I think about Liam every second of every day.

“From the moment I met Liam, I genuinely believed we were soulmates; he was the most humble, charming, normal person you could ever hope to come across, and genuinely one of the best people I’ve ever met in my life.

“That he won’t be there with me to navigate through this life, that I’ll have to deal with this without him by my side . . . it’s really hard.

“You don’t think about the worst possible thing that can happen.”

Since Liam’s death, Kate has left their rented Florida mansion and moved back to New Jersey.
