Known for their groundbreaking hits across the breakbeat and hardcore genres, The Prodigy was formed in Braintree, Essex, in 1990 by producer, keyboardist, and songwriter Liam Howlett.
The original lineup included MC and vocalist Maxim, dancer and occasional live keyboardist Leeroy Thornhill, dancer Sharky, and iconic frontman Keith Flint.
The band has previously performed at Glastonbury in 1995, 1997, and 2009.
They were set to return in 2019, but the tragic death of Keith Flint prevented their appearance.
Now, with only Liam Howlett and Maxim Reality remaining, speculation is mounting that The Prodigy could make a long-awaited comeback at Glastonbury 2025 – sixteen years after their last performance.
Taking to Reddit, one music fan wrote: “They have a concert in the Netherlands on June 27, but the rest of Glasto’s days are off.”
“They returned to concerts a few years ago, but this year they are coming back to really big festivals, e.g. Coachella, I think they would be perfect for Glastonbury.”
Another added: “They are way overdue another appearance and honestly they could easily headline a stage.”
A third penned: “I really hope so. They were supposed to play in 2019.”
A fourth chimed in: “Would love this. They’re heavily rumoured to be playing.”
Keith Flint, 49, was found dead at his Essex home in March 2019.
A coroner’s inquest later ruled that there was insufficient evidence to determine whether his death was a suicide or an accident.
Following his passing, The Prodigy canceled all upcoming shows.
At Glastonbury 2019, The Chemical Brothers paid tribute to Keith, dedicating their set to him.
Meanwhile, Gizz Butt, a former bandmate of Keith’s, was set to perform a DJ set at the festival but withdrew, fearing it would be seen as self-promotion.
This year, The Prodigy will be performing at Coachella after the line-up was unveiled.
They will be joining other music groups Kraftwerk and Above & Beyond, as they make their triumphant returns to the electronic music scene.
Lady Gaga, Green Day, Post Malone and Travis Scott will headline the event.
Other artists on the bill include Charli XCX, FKA twigs Missy Elliott, Megan Thee Stallion, Mustard, Tyla, Japanese Breakfast, Arca, Gel and many more.
The Prodigy have had seven UK No 1 albums and two No 1 singles.
They took a four-year break but returned with a hit European tour.
Maxim said: “You can’t replace Keith. Who is going to try and fill his gap? There’s just nobody.
“If we got on stage and we didn’t feel it worked, then we wouldn’t do it.
“But, we were excited and we loved it and you can never tell until you do the first show.”

THE Glastonbury line-up hasn’t been confirmed – despite the fact tickets for the 2025 event sold out in minutes. Here are some rumoured acts.
Basement Jaxx sparked speculation they will be playing at Worthy Fam after leaving a “Glastonbury shaped gap” in their latest tour schedule.
It came after the hit duo announced their first live shows in 10 years – with gig-goers calling out a key “clue” in the order of their concert dates.
Yet acts including Olivia Rodrigo, Harry Styles, Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan and Eminem are rumoured to be in the mix.
Canadian songstress Alanis Morrisette and Simple Minds have also been tipped to take to the stage.
The event will run from Wednesday, June 25 to Sunday June 29 for 2025.
