‘Disappointed’ Ronnie O’Sullivan misses out on potential £300,000 payday after failing to qualify for two tournaments


RONNIE O’SULLIVAN is “disappointed” following his latest tournament withdrawal.

The Rocket will miss out on a potential £300,000 payday as he can not qualify for the Players Championship and Tour Championship.

Each tournament could have been worth £150k in winnings each to O’Sullivan.

However, due to his inactivity in 2025, the seven-time world snooker champion has not qualified.

O’Sullivan, 49, has now missed SEVEN tournaments since he lost the UK Championship first round clash to Barry Hawkins.

He reached the semi-finals in Saudi Arabia in December but was dumped out by Mark Allen.

His latest withdrawal is the World Grand Prix in Hong Kong.

This adds to the Shoot Out, Scottish Open, Masters, German Masters, Welsh Open, World Open that he missed.

O’Sullivan has admitted his disappointment that he will not be taking part in the tournament.

However, he has insisted he is “eager” to return to the felt.

He said: “I am very disappointed not to be competing.

“I had been eager to make my comeback in Hong Kong and have put in my utmost effort but unfortunately must consider my health.


“I wish to sincerely thank the organisers and all the Hong Kong fans for their support.”

The next time O’Sullivan could be seen at the table is at the qualifiers for the World Championship.

These will take place between April 7 and April 16 in Sheffield.

The World Championship proper will begin at the iconic Crucible on April 19 and the final will be on May 5.

The current world no.4 has only played five times in 2025, but that was in the behind-closed-doors Championship League in Leicester when he snapped his cue in anger.

His pal and snooker legend Jimmy White has insisted that he needs to “get his act together”.

Meanwhile, the Rocket has put his £2million home up for sale following his split from ex-fiance Laila Rouass.
