GM confirms the Cadillac XT4 won’t make it to 2026[/caption]

GM has stopped the iconic Cadillac XT4 in its tracks and ended its production after seven years.

The luxury SUV was a sleek and maneuverable model, blending Cadillac’s premium features into a compact car.

With a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine it offered a welcomed balance of power and efficiency that often appealed to younger buyers.

The high-tech motor was decked out with a curved 33inch diagonal LED display and had Google built into the dashboard.

It provided active fuel management which optimised fuel economy but this unfortunately was no match for the influx of EV demand.

The XT4 ended production in January with a spokesperson stating the brand looks for “growth opportunities guided by customer demand.”

Cadillac, a division of GM, has killed off the production line and by next year the factory will be churning out an entire new car.

GM is making way for the Chevy Bolt as the brand adapts to the EV revolution.

The Fairfax Assembly plant in Kansas City, Kansas, where the has started tooling up for the Bolt – a low-cost electric vehicle that has caught the eye of many motorists.

In 2023 GM CEO Mary Barra announced that the Bolt would be discontinued from the brand’s lineup.

This prompted a rush of drivers to go and buy the Bolt while they could – the surge of sales was so big that GM decided to bring it back.

Now the new improved EV will be resurrected with a better battery, packed with fresh tech, and a swanky exterior.

Most importantly the Chevy Bolt will be affordable – a prized feature in the EV world.

The XT4 has been pushed to the side to make room for the Bolt because they’re expecting to maintain the high demand.

With high anticipation of Bolt sales, GM has decided to dedicate an entire Kansas factory to its production.

Its dedication to the EV revolution has earned GM the title of second best-selling American EV carmaker.

Taking top place unsurprisingly is EV manufacturing giant Tesla.

For motorists that will miss the Cadillac XT4, the Optiq is around the same size and offers a similar drive.

Keeping in line with GM’s electric takeover, Cadillac’s Optiq is an EV which maintains the 33inch display and offers high-tech gadgets.

Other brands are also adapting to a fuel-less environment like Mazda which confirmed its Mazda 2 petrol motor can no longer be bought.

There are only a “few hundred” left in showrooms and the numbers are dwindling now that the model has been discontinued.

In its place stands the Mazda 2 Hybrid, an updated version of the original vehicle.

A Mazda spokesperson said: “As we move towards increased electrification of our cars, the Mazda 2 Hybrid meets consumer demand in the B-segment and is a step in our journey to ensure all our cars have some form of electrification by 2030.”
