One Piece: Eiichiro Oda May Have to Follow Naruto’s Most Hated Scene in the Final Battle but He Can Make It Better With a Straw Hat Sacrifice

The Final Saga of One Piece is predicted to have the most large-scale battle of pirates going directly against the World Government. Now that we’ve entered the Elbaph Arc, fans are also waiting for one Straw Hat Pirate to die by sacrifice or otherwise.

However, Oda doesn’t have the best record of letting his characters who seemingly died stay dead. Perhaps it’s a Shonen curse and the authors are afraid that fans will react badly. This is exactly where Naruto fell short when the protagonist saved Might Guy after his near-death state.

Guy had achieved his dreams when he defeated Madara Uchiha. He gave his all opening the Eight Gates and it should have cost his life. Then comes Naruto who magically learned how to heal his fatal injuries. It was a lazy cop-out from Kishimoto, and now people are afraid Oda might do it with Brook.

Brook’s Devil Fruit, the Yomi Yomi no Mi, grants him immortality. Many theories believe his awakening will involve him being able to revive others. However, is this a necessary way to go about Brook’s arc in One Piece?

Brook is nearly 100, One Piece needs to let him rest in peace

The musician of the Straw Hat Pirates possibly has one of the most tragic backstories in One Piece. It didn’t involve genocide or sacrifice. Brook’s entire crew was wiped out slowly by poison, singing one last song: Binks’ Sake. He should’ve died with them but his Devil Fruit granted him life.

Because of his immortality, he was lost in the Florian Triangle for 50 years before the crew found him. Without the Rumbar Pirates or Laboon, we also got glimpses of him going insane from the loneliness. Now that he’s with the Straw Hats, he has friends to live for.

A fan on Reddit has theorized that during the upcoming war, the Straw Hats and other great pirates might fight Imu, the Five Elders, and other World Government figures. Many lives will be lost, but Brook’s Devil Fruit might play a big part in turning the tide.

One Piece Theory – Binks’ Sake and Brook’s Devil Fruit awakening

Music is a huge part of Brook’s persona so if he performs Binks’ Sake during the Final War and awakens his Devil Fruit, it will leave a huge impact.

Other fans, however, don’t agree. They compare the theory to Sung Jinwoo’s Shadow Monarch powers as well as Naruto bringing back Guy.

If reviving others comes with no cost to his life, what is the point? He’s nearly 100 and has lived a full life. One Piece needs a sacrifice where the character will stay dead, unlike Pell or Luffy’s million near-death situations. Brook’s arc will come to a peaceful conclusion.

Brook should reunite with Laboon before any sacrifice happens

Eiichiro Oda better not kill the musician before he can meet Laboon. The Island Whale’s loneliness made us all tear up during the Reverse Mountain Arc. When the author connected him to Brook’s backstory, fans were bawling.

Brook’s dream isn’t to even perform the biggest concert or compose the best song. It’s to reunite with Laboon. Since One Piece is all about dreams, Oda probably won’t ignore it.

Even if this theory doesn’t come true and Brook doesn’t die, fans certainly want to see him meet Laboon. His reaction to seeing whales identical to his old friend, realizing they must be his family, and playing Binks’ Sake for them made our hearts clench. We won’t forgive Oda if there’s no reunion.
