The Thing’s introduction in Marvel Rivals has been a blessing for vanguard players due to his ability to take aggressive angles. He can jump to the frontlines and fight up close, absorbing a lot of damage for the team.
On top of that, he is also a great ally to have on your side due to his ability to shield allies. Similarly, players have already started to come up with more creative combos including one with Spider-Man.
The Thing can wreak havoc when combined with Spider-Man’s mobility
Spider-Man is a backline assassin whose main task is infiltrating the enemy’s backline and constantly annoying them with his presence at the back. His main targets are duelists and strategists since he simply does not have enough attack damage to take on a vanguard on his own.
His ultimate shoots webs in an encircled area stunning and damaging nearby enemies. He is extremely mobile and can swing across the entire map in seconds. This helps him to go in and out of complex battles.
On the other hand, The Thing is the stark opposite, he is a frontline soldier that can take heavy damage and also cause a lot of damage and stun his enemies. His Embattled Leap ability allows him to jump toward an ally and apply damage reduction to both. His ultimate Clobberin’ Time creates a massive shockwave stunning enemies before plunging them into the air.
A mix of Spidey’s athleticism and The Thing’s endurance makes a pretty great team. A creative combo has emerged between the two that allows Spider-Man to plunge forward towards an enemy while The Thing uses his Embattled Leap ability to apply damage reduction which is then further paired with both of their ultimates. This lethal combo, if executed correctly leaves little to no chance for the enemy to survive.
Marvel Rivals gives players enough freedom to explore various combos
Marvel Rivals has established fair ground providing players with the freedom to explore unique ways to approach the game. The game does have unique team-up abilities that get activated with the right members, but there are also a lot of other combos that players have been trying in the game. Overwatch 2 has been facing a lot of pressure due to Marvel Rivals.
This Spider-Man and The Thing combo is the biggest example of it. There is no team-up ability between the two but they still can work together in a great way while complementing each other’s abilities.
